    Dividend investing

I have been following this board for almost three years now. It seems most if not all members are after growth stocks. I was wondering, if anyone is into dividend stocks. Dividend gurus (if any ), what is the minimum yield you're looking for?

    Duniyo,
Here's a great site for research. They send you a free list of the top div. stocks in each category each week. http://www.dividendchannel.com/

I'm holding the following div. stock as of today. Have had several for years and keep reinvesting divs into more shares.

    HCKT--1.97%, NJR--3.55%, PM--3.69%, INN--4.50%, KKR--5.38%

    HQL---7.25%, NYCB-7.47%, CODI--8.35%, FTR--9.39%, IDE--9.42%,

    AI-- 12.70%

If you can hold your nose and own it, MO is great. Will always be a cash cow with a fat dividend.

I know I'm late to this thread, but I have 3:
TNH, which I've had since '06
AGNC, which I've had for a couple of years now, even though it's been getting hammered since their last earnings report
KMP, which I just started this year.

em26jamie, WOW! TNH and KMP pay crazy dividends. You're luck if brought TNH back in 2006 and still holding. I am holding AAPL which pays paltry 2.7%.

I had a stock picker program on a CD back then and that's how I found TNH. That was back when Bush made his speech about lowering our dependence on oil and then the ethanol boom began and I had bought up a bunch of ADM. I hadn't even heard of TNH until this program picked it out and I haven't looked back since. So you're right, I did get lucky. It was Stockpicker RT. It was a one time fee of $200 back then, but then they changed it to a recurring monthly fee so I stopped using it.

BPT has a ridiculous dividend but I don't know how long it will last. My friend pointed out an article that discusses aging infrastructure on the oil rigs. Poor maintenance could lead to a disaster.

Just did a search for the highest dividend paying stocks. Most are not recommended for buying. Here are the top 5 with a "buy" rating : EMES, XUE, NTLS, OZM, KKR.

Don't pay anyone to tell you the best dividend stocks. I get their pitches all the time. Here are the top 25 dividend paying stocks out of over 8100 stocks rated. These are all "buy" rated and are in order from highest div. paid (16.46%) to lowest (6.68%). ALDW, JMI, MEMP, GAIN, NMM, CPLP, AMEN, GLBS, EMES, BGCP, NSH, XUE, DTEGY, NRCIB, HQH, KFN, RAS, GAB, CVI, EXLP, FDUS, GBDC, FXNC, MFCSF, ETP
