Help elect the president of stocks. This election will offer no hate ads, no character assassinations, no political contributions, no hiding behind the flag, no poll taking, no chads, and no macho b.s.
Rules of the first annual pre-presidential election stock picking tournament:
There will be a limit of 30 contestants. Each will pick 2 stocks. No shorting. The first stock a contestant lists will be his/her presidential candidate. The percentage of its gains or losses will be calculated each day. The second pick will be the vp candidate. Its gains will only be added at 50% of the actual total, however, losses will be counted 100%. Picks cannot be changed as of market opening monday Oct.4th when the contest officially begins. $5000 in pretend money will be put in each stock for a total starting amount of $10000 for each contestant. You cannot pick the same stock twice. Standings will be posted at least twice each week. Contest ends as of market close monday Nov. 1st. No after hour trades will be counted Nov. 1st.
Just for fun contestants will be randomly divided into 3 groups; elephants, donkeys, and independents. Sign up now. Only the first 30 to send in their picks will be counted.
A case of beer, a wheel of Amish baby swiss cheese, and a large cylinder of slim jims will be donated to the winner's favorite political party. Only if you send a huge self addressed stamped envelope.
Example: Johnny picks AB and ABC. Each stock is worth $5000 for a total of $10000 . AB goes up 20% in value now worth $6000
ABC goes up 20% in value now worth $5500 because vp stock only gets 50% of its gain. Sorry, nobody said politics was fair. Remember if ABC goes down 20% you do lose $1000 thats why vp's are usually worthless. Only one entry per person please. Start sending your picks before it's too late. Don't be left out in the cold. This may be your only chance to beat Mr.Market. Think of the bragging value!
