  • My pick turned out to be a pos, I should have stuck with pigs. GME did not have nearly enough Xbox 360's on hand and are getting destroyed for it. I'm sure this did not generate much good will to the people that put down money for an Xbox and they won't get them until 2006.

They will likely be a good long term play as people start buying the new 360 games but did not turn out well for this week.

      Webs,
Speaking for the humans on this site your Vulcanness is driving me crazy and you could care less. Can we somehow "turn" Vulcan or is it heredity ?

No it isn't, but as far as I understand Lye, the POTW doesn't count... which makes things a bit complicated. Lye seems to want to use the POTW as a kind of short list for a 'real' portfolio, real money he says, I would be a bit more careful. So on the one hand we have the players, who would like to win and see the POTW do well (and beat stupid things like the market and my Mechanical Fund), and on the other hand we have Lye, who doesn't care about such trifles and is only interested in making money with our picks. ( eh, Lye?)

One of the reasons I brought my Fund into is, is that it should be possible to beat it, and let's see if the POTW can do it. Perhaps Lye will also disclose his other plans, to the point where we can see how well he does off us.

          Regards,

          Karel
          ==================================================

Karel posted the above today in reference to a comment I made last evening (when I posted the POTW score) about my "real Life portfolio" being "fat and healthy" during this current Bull run, and praising the POTW's interim performance despite my 18th place pick..... I can't believe I even responded to this venomous post (one who's mal intent was masked by smiley faces and "Regards") ONCE, let alone twice.... btw, I especially noticed the divisive nature of the last sentence ("Us" vs "Lye") in each paragraph.

Look, I ain't really a trouble maker or nothing like that.... Hell, I just like to trade stocks, post some ideas and have a little fun over here.... and you guys are "by and large" pretty cool too.... but after all the effort I've put into this POTW thing, that post just makes me want to say one little thing.... Be very careful if you ever "INVITE" a certain bilingual fella over to dinner one weekend.... and whatever you do, DON'T drink too much brandy, keep your head about you.... otherwise you might be nursing broken knuckles in the morning, and trust me, that's never fun.

Well, gotta get up early and kill me something, so I'm hittin the sack now. I'll post the final score Friday evening.
          BEEF!... it's whats for dinner!

I think that was: ( eh, Lye?)

You overlook smileys at your own peril, Lye, but I promise to take care and refrain from messages to you, even sideways ones as the one you refer to, that NEED them. That should clean up the communication. (Of course you lost the smiley in the quote you gave while you were cut and pasting, it just didn't copy.)

To further clean up the communication, I wasn't really referring to any message of yours, but replying to spike. I do not think it would be justified for anybody to connect the current state of your portfolio with the POTW, it wouldn't even be rational (the POTW in its current incarnation is not two weeks old).

And of course we are all here to let others profit from the knowledge we may have, and to profit from what the others share. Or so I hope.

            Regards,

            Karel

                Lye,
I believe I was the one who started all this BS with my post regarding your position this week. It was never meant to be degrading or to imply anything other than responsible position and money management of yours or anyone in the POTW to try an insure our maximizing the opportunity and to try to obtain the highest % of gain we could over the week. That was the original content for what we were trying to do.
I can't believe that something in the spirit of open dialogue has digressed to the point it has, especially in light of it being the Thanksgiving holiday. Regardless of one's personal feelings the fact remains that we should all be able to keep our lines of communication open and focus on what we are trying to accompolish without letting opposing views alienate us from one another. We all have to keep that in mind first and foremost and put our personal feeling on the back burner for the sake of harmony across the board.
As a functioning group there is always going to be times of opposing views and disagreement. It will make us all better individuals to keep that in mind and to consider in making our posts and presenting ourselves to one another. The whole thing is to help one another and learn from one another.
I feel that I started this situation initially with my post an although I certainly don't feel that I violated anyone's ego or space the last thing I want to see happen is the route this dialogue has gone. So in the spirit of Thanksgiving I'm offering my apologies to everyone an would expect the same from each of us in the hope that we can achieve our original goals. A safe and happy Thanksgiving to all of us in the spirit of open dialogue and friendship.

Actually it wasn't Spikefader.... it was Skiracer. You know?.... "Ski" the Construction company owning "Nam" Vet from Toms River N.J., who subscribes to the Morphius Trading Group, Bow hunts white tail deer and is an avid Striper fisherman .... his real name is Ed btw.

Spike is another fellow here Karel.... I guess to "you".... "we" all kinda look the same.

Ski I got no beef with you.

Your post was well received from me as my reply to you indicates. You questioned my decision making not my character..... This ass hole on the other hand, has drawn first blood!

Hear, hear! Now can't we all just get along?

Geez, a guy can't go to Vegas for a few days (by the way, both the wife and I actually gambled in Vegas and came out ahead this time- a first!) without coming back to find his friends all faceful at each other. How about we all just let bygones be bygones, agree to disagree sometimes, shake hands, and etc... ok?

(and none of that "but HE started it" business!)

                        Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!
