For those who don't read my thread...we had a brief discussion on HOM this weekend...My final comment was:
The short interest goes up...but the days to cover goes down.
The chart is interesting...and maybe it pops??? But hurricane season is over and I'm not planning on any earthquakes in the next quarter
I don't want to say that I had any influence on the HOM action today...But the producers are talking about me hosting a show opposite Cramer's "MAD MONEY"...They want to call it IIC's "CRAZY CASH"...Can I count on everybody as a viewer???"Trade What Is Happening...Not What You Think Is Gonna Happen"

Anti-POTW idea.
Go to http://www.trade-ideas.com/StockInfo...ty.html?more=1.
This is the list of the stocks with the highest volatility in the entire market, with the first listed stock being the most volatile. Each Anti-POTW participant must pick one from the **TOP 25** on this list. (We probably won't have any more than 25 Anti-POTW participants anytime soon, right?) The fact that a stock is on this list in the first place, combined with a quick look by each participant at its recent (such as 6 months) chart, should tell the participant pretty quickly whether you have a long or short pick on your hands. (For each stock on the list, it's basically a coin-flip to pick the right direction of the stock's most probable move for the coming week.) Then we all watch all the picks for the rest of the week.
Set a prize each week for the WORST % RESULT for the week, with that stock serving as an object lesson of the pitfalls of trying to ride one of these broncos.
However, in many cases, what a participant has selected is a stock making a significant REVERSAL IN PRICE practically right before your eyes that week. Learning how to find a reversing stock and work with it can be a PROFITABLE LESSON. There are many very serious professional traders who believe that finding a stock making a big-time reversal is the best way to make big money in the markets. For instance, see Jack Schwager's books of interviews with traders ("Market Wizards" and "The New Market Wizards") to see what I'm talking about.
Take a look at the charts for the first 10 to 20 of those in today's list, and you'll see what I mean! Each chart should portray some kind of pps disaster or severe (even distorted) pps behavior in the recent past. Because I don't know the story behind some of these charts, some actually give me a good laugh. (Maybe I shouldn't laugh at all -- what the heck happened to RIGL? And if you picked DRTE, would you vote to go long or short for the coming week?)
What do we think?

And it is VERY hard to stay in cash when one is motivated to be an active trader. But cash IS a position. This is why hunting for perfect trades will slow you down. Finding those with outstanding r/r will help. If it ain't just right, pass on it. And in hindsight, just to be helpful for OSUR dude, look at the chart...little double top there, with gap support failing. Was a big gap relative to r/r so the logical stop for anyone long at the top is tucked under the gap up day. And if one played the gap up day support play then logical stop is tucked under the gap fill support. When that fails, you don't want to be long this stock. NB can tell you. He watched one of his longs fall through gap support and he didn't see the significance at the time and it squeezed him as it slide. Fact is, and this is for everyone reading, is gaps are enormous TA weight. Don't underestimate them, and don't hope in the face of them. Same goes for double tops. So it's 'if X happens, I'll do Y". "If double top happens, I'll tighten stop or get out until it's resolved". Cash IS a position. Waiting, stalking, r/r hunting IS a position. Leverage patience dude, and you will be HUUUUUUUUUUUGE! Patience is SOO hard to develop when you're pumped up to trade.
Best!
