    Chart Has Been Corrected

Okay. The chart for yesterday has been corrected. Please let me know if you see anything that looks incorrect.

As many of you may recall, early on when I first started keeping score, I was pulling closing prices from yahoo.com, and we noticed that for some reason they were often a little off from the majority of other sites' reported prices. At that point I began using businessweek.com instead, and ever since then there appeared to be little or no such problem—until yesterday.

Obviously there was a problem somewhere in the chain between businessweek's servers and those of the service from which they get their info feed. But when I got up early this morning and rechecked businessweek's reported closing prices, they appeared to have been corrected. The updated chart reflects those latest prices.

Hopefully this was a temporary glitch, and we will not have a similar problem again soon. If it becomes a recurring problem, I will have to find another source.

    Again, thanks for your patience.

Oops! Sorry, Lyehopper! In all the closing price hoopla I neglected to fix that! I will make the correction, and it will be reflected in the next scorecard.

Okay everybody, I'm going to take this one before anyone else thinks about it! If THE RULES allow it, that is, and I can't remember anything that would disallow it. It's not a limit order. Is there a rule against IPOs? Well, here goes:

Please give me NMX long on the first tick of the IPO on Friday! PLEASE? Pretty please?? Otherwise, I'll have to go with my second choice that is not nearly as exciting. river

                    river,
Smart move. My question is do you get the price of the first shares traded after open ? What will it be 75? , 85? , 95? This is how the politicians and captains of industy spend $57 and get $85 for it. Unless you've got a few million in account you can't touch it.

That's an excellent question, BillyJoe. Perhaps there should be a rule about playing IPOs, such as: if a person plays an IPO at the issue price, then they must hold that position for a minimum of one hour.

To be honest, I don't know how the opening price of an IPO is recorded, i.e. whether it's the issue price or the price of the first sale. If the latter, then I think no such rule would be needed.

Does anyone know which it is?

Right! Which, of course, is why I'm buying it with the millions and millions I have in my brokerage account (not my fun money account). I'm expecting the first shares traded will be at least 20 points above the highest price quoted, so you're sure in the ballpark. For the POTW, I am hoping to get the ask on the opening tick, which is most probably going to include that 20+++ premium. Goodness knows what I'll really be able to buy it at. It'll probably cost me more than that while waiting in the queue! river

Rob, I think the price of the first sale sounds very fair. river

                            Rob,
IBD always lists the performance of their top IPO's as the difference between issue price and current price. This is very misleading as very few can get in on the top IPO's at issue price.

                              Week 46 (7), Day 3

New-born Baby confounds the entire board, leaving us all in a state of utter shock and disbelief, as he launches like a bottle rocket, passing up even the formidable Uphill Racer!!! These two have definitely hit three cherries this week and set the bar to dizzying heights!!! Way to go, dudes!!!

Alice got out of CHINA and went back to Wonderland, but not before stuffing his saddlebags with a greater-than 9-1/2% gain!! Alice is trying to make the rest of us look like Tweedle-Dum!! (and doing a pretty good job of it by the way)

And just for the heck of it, let's give the One Who Hops in Caustic Soda honorable mention for a pretty amazing 6.56% gain today!!
