Ah, shucks, you make me blush!! I just try to keep it light; the world is a serious place, we all need a bit of Curly now & then!!

BTW, After more troubleshooting, I am back online with my desktop. In case you were wondering, the motherboard was fine; the cd burner is bad. (It was keeping the system from booting up.) All is fine in stooge-dum!!

I'm just playin' w/ you...But in a way I am serious...Scorekeeping is not a walk in the park...I'll make the same offer here as I did to IBD to moderate their forums...$250k...And if you guys pay me you can email me all you want with your "Rules" suggestions...Doug(IIC)
So are you saying that the reason we have a 5% penalty is because Lye is the scorekeeper? I'd agree with that I suppose, but I wonder why the scorekeeper has that rule.

I'd like to know, if someone enters the contest in the middle of the year, will they be penalized 5% for the multitude of weeks they didn't play? Why assume I'd start to play at some point in 2006 and assess a penalty until I entered a pick?

I'll tell you right now, there's no way I'm going to be entering a pick each week, and when I'm not playing, I'm not going to waste my time posting "$Cash$" to the thread. And I won't complain if you penalize me for weeks I miss AFTER I ENTER THE CONTEST (except for the complaint that a cash position should be assumed, but IIC is right, rules are rules and no matter why the rule exists, it still does), but but penalizing me for weeks of the contest before I've even entered the contest isn't fair.

People want to know my reasons for not entering the contest on Jan 1. I'm intentionally not answering that because IT DOES NOT MATTER. The reasons why I shouldn't be penalized are good ones, and they don't rely on why I started late.

It appears that everyones pick is going the wrong way. The winner may turn out to be the smallest loser. jejeje

I guess I am saying that. Actually, LYE asked for a volunteer to take over the scorekeeping duties...I have no problem nominating you...And I'd be happy to abide by whatever rules you set up...Even if I don't like them.

I'm not tryin' to give you a hard time Scifos...But I think we are sort of wasting time on technicalities...It is not like there is a prize at stake or anything.

Now...In my pick of the year contest there are prizes...But since I'm providing the prizes...I made the rules.

Anyway, I think the contest is more for sharing ideas than winning...Best, Doug(IIC)

Well said Doug. You hit the nail right smack on the head. My wins mean nothing if we don't all get something out of it.

None of it means anything if you don't own the stocks and you win or end up in the green for the week. No one gives any explanation or analysis of the why behind their plays so who is learning anything from any of it. It's a game an it's for fun, especially if you win. Personally I hate to win when I don't own the stock or even end up in the green if I don't own it. But it is fun and Lye has built it into something special with the friendly competition and the number of players.
