In truth, New-born's charting is improving rapidly and he's really grasping some key charting principles that no doubt has become an edge for him in spotting trades. I think he's doing ya'll a favor posting his thoughts. You should be thanking him ....

Ninner,
You are certainly correct on both counts: it was the 50 week average, and I cannot read a chart. However, I am trying to learn under Dr. Spike's tutalage. That's why I post my garbage. Spike comes by and corrects my papers and I learn by my mistakes.
However, I do know enough about charting to know that CVH has been one hot stock. I hope you rode it all the way up!

Ninner: Just wondering?...I never heard of anyone following the 50 week MA...Is there any particular reason? I was thinking it was a year due to holidays...but it is really not...but it's close enough.
Anyway, I really admire people like New Born, Runner and others who are learning a lot from Spike. Heck, I've been investing for over 30 years(22 as a serious investor) and I learn stuff from Spike all the time.
One last thing...Just looking at your chart, I think most everyone would think that it was the 50 day if they were not already familiar with the price action on the stock. I have stockcharts.com, although I only use it for certain things and am not familiar with 2/3 of the features...but I never saw where I could put in a weekly MA...Is that in the Beta? I would've put in 250 days or something if I was looking for a year.
Another last thing...I believe it is customary to put LOL orif you are just trying to give someone a rib...Best, IIC

I ran a scan this morn...too long to list the criteria...but CMTL showed up along with AET OEH and IRIS(one of my contest pix). If CMTL moves on vol I would strongly consider it for a quick trade myself."Trade What Is Happening...Not What You Think Is Gonna Happen"

You are speaking of a swing trade, I presume? I would agree that CVH will have a bounce here. Here' how I see a swing trade (remember: this is my worthless opinion).
Finally, I want to remind you that CVH is at resistance right now. If you look at the current price, and then look across the chart to the left, you can see that it is at a previous resistance level. It will need to bust through resistance to signal a buy. Once that happens, I'd target $70.75 and then be looking to get off the train if serious resistance is encountered.
Click on chart, and then click a second time to enlarge.
Ninner,
Happy trading to you!Last edited by New-born baby; 05-01-2005, 08:40 AM.

It's not a stock that I follow but your comments about a swing trade at this time caught my attention. After looking at your annotated chart I thought just the opposite. Don't see any clear signal to prompt a swing trade either up or down but the stock looks good for a longer term hold. I don't like buying these high priced issues. My logic being that to get 1000 shares you have to put up and risk $68000 to win $1000 if it goes up a point. I think you can do much better finding a much cheaper stock to play if your thinking about putting that much money into play.THE SKIRACER'S EDGE: MAKE THE EDGE IN YOUR FAVOR
