No problemo Rob. I do think cars and alcohol, but not the yerba, are dangerous by themselves and combined together kill thousands more than guns do in criminal or accidental situations. It's a very hard call on both guns and cars.

Ok..throw in a cell phone and you've got a potentialLY explosive situation. Imagine doing a couple of bong hits, chased by a few beers, getting into your car with your cell phone and loaded S&W on the seat next to you. The phone rings and you pick it up....BLAM!!

Seriously though, there's absolutely no comparison to the danger of autos vs. handguns statistically speaking. But in big cities I believe the number of deaths by handguns outnumbers the number of deaths by auto accidents by a fair margin.

And your point about pot is well taken. I have yet to see any studies that compared to booze, guns, prescription drugs, etc that its even remotely as dangerous in comparison. I know people that have been smoking for years, hell decades (not me), and they don't have any health problems, no bad lungs, nothing. But they're taking a chance getting caught which is not good.

Look at our crank problems in this country...crystal meth. Its very sad how its invaded the red states and ruined so many lives. Remember quaaludes from the early days? They have completely vanished from the streets because our government went after the manufacturers of the needed ingredients. The exact same thing could be done with crystal meth except that big Pharma is not allowing it to happen. A big part of their profits comes from worthless cold medication and we all know the main ingredient in meth comes from these cold medications. I think it would be a small price to pay to go with the sniffles for a few days (stay at home and drink bourbon) instead of supporting the crystal meth manufacturers.

What drug do they make using ammonia stolen from farmers? It's been a problem in Northern Ohio.

          Rob,
I don't care if morons like that guy kill themselves and wreck their own property. Just so they stay away from my family and property.

btw, I think that compact cars should be outlawed and everyone should be forced by law to drive SUV's.... Following are excerpts from a CNN article just out.

              by Peter Valdes-Dapena
              Monday, April 23, 2007

....During the years 2002 to 2005, there were 79 driver deaths per million registered 2001-2004 model year vehicles, according to the Institute. By contrast, during the years 1990 to 1994, there were 110 deaths per million 1989 to 1993 model year vehicles on the road then. That represents a 30 percent reduction in the overall death rate.

Most of that difference can be attributed to safer vehicle designs and to the addition of Electronic Stability Control on more vehicles, especially SUVs, according to the Institute.

Overall, midsize and large luxury cars have the lowest death rates, according to the Institute, while small 4-door cars have the highest death rates. Of the 15 vehicles with the lowest death rates, none were small cars.

Tatnic, let me guess.... You'd stop illegal "meth" production by what?.... Outlawing the use of Anhydrous Ammonia by farmers? You know it is some verrrrrry dangerous stuff.

OH! I know an even better solution.... Just have the Libs outlaw farming altogether!!!!.... I'll bet that'll be "tops" on Hillary's list just as soon as she's "in".... Sssssssss!

                    IMCL Setting New Multi-year Highs

IMCL just a few minutes ago established a 113-week intraday high of 44.55, and now sits just a few pennies below that point.

The next take-out target is the intraday high of 44.86 established on March 1, 2005.

Hey, NBB, I'm enjoying the IMCL ride this morning!

                      Did you hang on?

Edit ( a few minutes later ): Naturally, as soon as I post about it, the price starts to drop. (When will I learn to quit doing that?) But it'll be okay. I can see it's already starting to pick up again. People always get jittery on the larger moves.

                              Tatnic,
I was self employed in an agricultural business for nearly 30 years and didn't receive a cent from the govt. in subsidies , yet I paid them taxes , and double ss taxes all that time since I had no employees. Never got unemployment, welfare, foodstamps, regardless of how much or little I took in. The American farmers that I know are getting screwed daily. That's why they are disappearing so fast. Just wait until corporate farms control the food supply. High gas prices will not be a problem anymore. You should thank guys like Lyehopper everytime you eat.

I'd be the biggest hyprocrite on the forum if I chastized Tatnic for his calling Lye a moron. I have spoken out in that fashion probably more than anyone here. When I do that it doesn't seem all that bad when I'm writing in, usually in the heat of anger, but Lye's post was almost a week old and in reading Tatnic's reply to that post it made me see what a jerk I have been at times with the stuff that I have posted in arguments with other forum members. I'm trying to be better at curbing my antagonistic and derogatory comments to anyone regardless of the point I am trying to make. I don't see the need for the use of some terminology. It only propogates the negative aspects of the disagreement. Disagree to the fullest but I for one am going to try my best to keep it above board with the use of certain derogatory terminology.
Billy, I have to agree with you. I have been self-employed my entire life except for a few very short periods early on after the Army. I have always paid my dues, taxes, and contributions in the way the gov't. specified. I have done everything they have asked of me as a serviceman, businessman, and taxpayer. I can honestly say that I have never got a thing back in return except for my freedom to work my ass off trying to make a living. Doug's post the other day regarding the letter by someone living in Iowa that wanted to change his status and become an illegal alien hit the nail on the head. The politicians are to blame for whatever subsidies farmers or anyone else gets because they are buying votes by doing so. It is not Lye's or any other hard working farmers fault. If Lye didn't take it they would give it to some other illegal alien or anyone else whose vote was up for sale. It is a tragic situation and is adding to the demise of this great country of ours.
Getting back to the original point. I cannot agree with Tatnic's use of the moron term with Lye. It will only further a negative situation.
