I have 22 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. How is this possible? Every day there are hundreds of stocks setting new highs, no matter what happens in the overall market. Many of these stocks are still at very reasonable valuations. Afraid of buying stocks at their highs? Think of it this way: a new high is really a future floor for companies with solid financial underpinnings. Quantitative momentum modeling makes it easy to identify stocks that can continue this upward momentum trend. Why does this happen? It's really very simple..ask me about what investors and cows have in common. I am $$$ MR. MARKET $$$. I AM HUGE!!! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses. You can join in on the fun. Brewers Carlsberg and Heineken to Buy Scottish & Newcastle for $15.3 Billion
LONDON (AP) -- Brewers Carlsberg and Heineken will buy beermaker Scottish & Newcastle for $15.3 billion, the companies said Friday.
Scottish & Newcastle PLC, which rejected two earlier bids, agreed to an all-cash offer of 800 pence ($15.6 per share.
From the story it appears that Heineken is going to take control of Newcastle's British operations. Karel, tell your brewmaster pals over there in Amsterdam that if they take me favorite ale, Newcastle Brown, and ruin it, I'll never forgive them. They might say, "Please forgive us, Rob. We were only trying to make it better ... " and I will tell them, "I am disinclined to acquiesce to your request."
Karel,
I second this. Please do not let anyone change this great ale!
Well it hit 44 a little earlier today and looks for all the world as though it will close higher. Had you listened to ol' Rob you could have made about 16% in 22 days. 'Nuff said?
p.s. It's going higher from here, dudes and dudettes.
16% aint bad i like your attitude cheers. Was busy with Fre Wm and abk big swingers. But love your thread.
Rob,
Don't sell now, Martha Stewart went to jail for putting in a sell order at 60 in 2001. Did you have insider information, Rob? Just kidding but it sure beats ELN. Now if only my VGHCX can cash in on some biotech.
Hey, y'all, did you have fun last Saturday evening? I can assure you I did. Some good friends of mine have a nice farm a few miles east of Rocky Mount in Franklin County, Virginia, the “Moonshine Capital of the World.” We rode horses, played some live bluegrass music (It wasn't all bluegrass; we also played some Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash tunes ) had some great barbecue, some great margaritas, took some young 'uns on a hayride, and ... oh yeah ... had a pretty awesome bonfire. I snapped this pic with my cheap-o cell phone camera.
I am fully recuperated now.
Hey, as long as I have your attention, why don't you throw down on the Pick o' the Week contest? I'm not going to beat around the bush: it's been pretty scantily populated lately and needs some fresh blood. Come on ... be adventurous ... be a player ... show your stock-picking prowess. Or perhaps you don't think you got what it takes? Hmmm? Oh, you do? Then bring it on, Dudes and Dudettes!
Seriously, it's a very cool contest, and I am considering some changes to the rules for 2009. But I need stock-pickers! Okay? Alright, then. Just do it already! Jump in now, so you can get warmed up for '09.
Several weeks ago I went to look in the Portrait Gallery forum of the $$$Mr. Market$$$ board. I discovered that only the first thread shows up, the one titled "Rules for This Forum." I informed Karel of this in a private message. He checked it and said that the forum appeared to be working properly. Until now I still can only see that first message, and it doesn't matter which one of several computers I try it with.
Am I the only one who is having this problem? Anybody elese?

i have been having a running problem with my posts. I post something and then it doesnt show up on the new posts until a day later. people reply to my posts and when i click on the post it doesnt show up. i've spoken to karel and ernie about it but we cannot seem to get the problem solved. i don't know whether the problem lies with the site or with my computer. anyone else sharing this type of problem with their posts or the site in general.

That was the trick, O huge one! Funny, for the six-plus years I've been on this board, I've never had to adjust the display options. But when I checked it today, it was set to only display the last two months' posts. I don't think it was that way previously, and I've never changed those settings. Weird. Oh well. Thanks, Ernie!
Hey, uphill racer, your situation sounds even weirder. Hope you get that one worked out, but I haven't a clue about it.
