      Mr Market Stock Contest 2006

      Close on 4/13/2006

Mickey is not as HUGE as he was but he's still Super $$$HUGE$$$

Mickey took a big hit as I predicted last week but he is still a one man show so far.

Our A/D/U for the week was 13/12/1 and our YTD dropped to 16/10/0 from 16/9/1 as Your's Truly went red and Stocks54 went from unchanged to green. Of last week's Top 7 only Lye was green for the week.

Our overall % gain YTD dropped to +10.96% from +12.31% last week as our total portfolio was -1.20% for the week.

Of course...we are still kickin' the cr*p outta the CSSGX which is +9.37% YTD....I use the open on 1/3/06 for the indices and the close on 1/3/06 for the CSSGX because funds are only priced at eod.

LYE was HUGE today with ECOL up over 16%...Karel's CELL looks great again right here...In fact, CELL will be on the IIC's Killer Watch Lists tonight which is usually good for a nickel boost

The celebrities are putting the pressure on the Mr.Market faithful followers in our Pick of the Year Contest. Ian Wyatt's FMCN and Cramer's ATI keep exchanging the lead while Schaeffer's Power Stocks MWY continues to stink up the entire contest. In a significant move , GOOG has moved into positive territory for AOL Financial's Hillary Kramer leaving just two losers in the 17 stock portfolio.

Mickey is still $$$HUGE$$$...But it could get interesting soon!!!

Mickey is fading...but you can't argue that he is still $$$HUGE$$$...For now anyway.

A little shake up in the standings as LYE's ECOL rockets over 27% this week and lands him in the runner-up spot passing Karel and "J". Sowersnc was +19.3% with ACI and Sleddawg's FORD advanced 13.5% for the week.

Our A/D/U for the week was 16/9/1 and our YTD increased to 17/9/0 from 16/10/0 last week as Sowersnc went green with ACI advancing $15.05.

Our overall % gain YTD increased to +14.56% from +10.96% last week as our total portfolio was +3.2% for the week.

Of course...we are still kickin' the cr*p outta the CSSGX which is +13.96% YTD....But the gap is closing...I use the open on 1/3/06 for the indices and the close on 1/3/06 for the CSSGX because funds are only priced at eod.

I'm curious to know if anyone owns any of their picks for the long term in this contest. Is there anyone there besides Ernie, who is down a few hundred % since his entry an probably should be commended some way for his endearing belief in this stock after all this time, that actually owns their picks an is considering holding over the long term.

Yup, I own CELL, with about the same entry point as in this contest. I will sell it when it drops off the screen I use.

Hey Ed.... I first owned ECOL below $12.... My primary position was purchased in Mid December 2005 below $14.... I have traded some shares along the way but held my major position till just yesterday (I posted that I sold it yesterday in my thread)

Look back at $$MM$$'s "BEL thread" and you'll find that I first mentioned ECOL on 9/17/05 (post #58 and #60) and on 12/14/05 (post #63) I stated that I was accumulating it again.

Edit: also look at the following link.lol

After I sold all of my shares yesterday ECOL continued to move up though. I fear that I sold too soon but I'm just spooked by this market.... I'll buy it back again soon after I feel comfortable doing so. ECOL's a great company.

I don't think anyone here ever saw what I did in this company. Everyone was focused on the substandard BEL.... and no one even commented on my post #60 on the BEL thread but Runner and I'm sure he never hit the links in my post to read what I was talking about.... A prime example of how TA alone is trumped by solid fundamental research.

I ask because I wanted to see how many people actually had that much belief in their pick over the long term or for the entire year the contest runs to own it for that period of time. Your pick is now down only 3.5% BTW. Great pick Karel. What would CELL have to drop to for you to exit the position. I have to agree with you to some extent Doug. If I was up considerably in my position, which I am and do own 1000 shares of it from $46 range, I would have to exit the play rather than give it all back or even some small % of it back. If I were Mickey an owned it from his contest entry I wouldn't give it back. On the other hand I might have given it more room from the initial entry since I was playing it for a year. Your exit at 9 % seems to indicate a lack of overall faith in the play for the entire year from the beginning.

                          Ski,
I own TLF and have for a while before the contest started. Up maybe 3% overall. It has been see- sawing , but I still anticipate a big move up before year's end. I've been burned so often within the last 3 years selling too early that I'm now holding everything 6-12 months. Am sitting on some nice gains which makes it very tempting to cash in , but patience has rewarded me so far. Was down on HOM CHB FDG KFY WDFC and have nice gains in all of them now.

Well, great pick... There is some luck involved. CELL is a part of my experiment with Mechanical Investing, and you generally don't just pick one stock, but a basket, like in my Mechanical Fund. In my mechanical strategy, I pick the top X of the screen, and sell a stock when it drops below place 25. As this is a guarantee for not selling at the top, I take care to sell on the way up, but always so that my $$$ position keeps growing. Just a way to play this, and I am still experimenting.

                            Regards,
