Great comeback Lye.... How many times have you raced that big-ass cattle trailer this year? lol

And with that many shares I'd be more worried about speed of execution, or lack thereof, and reliability of the platform.....and retail brokers delaying a fill so they can get a cut of the action in a fast moving issue....

So Ferrari-like speed may save you a whole lot more than $93 commission when you're talking about a $357,000 trade.....

I dunno; I'm a little fish in a big pond and don't trade the size that you do.

I forget if you told me this when we were talking about it months ago, but how many seconds delay in execution is that AMTD platform for a large trade like that one?

good point Spike.... BUT!!!!.... Using my Ford f350 and my gooseneck stock trailer I have hauled and sold over 70,000 pounds of live cattle this year for an average of about $1.28 per pound.... How many five-weight steers can you fit in that "fast-ass" Ferrari?...jejeje!

I usually buy with limit orders. But when I do buy with a market order, it's pretty much instantaneous.... about a second.

Now you can not do "bracket trades" with AMTD and some other features IB has that AMTD does not. I guess it depends on your trading style. Probably wouldn't hurt me to have an account at both and play around with IB to see what it's all about.

btw Tom... did you say Libor plus 0.25% (a quarter of one percent) or 2.5%?
Libor plus .25% is smokin" dude!

Hey Tom.... I'd Just tell her to start young, work hard and be determined to outshine her competitors. Tell her not to "toot" her own horn but let the boss (or her customers) toot it for her. Her hard work, effort and commitment to excellence will take her a long way. OH yeah! And save her money! Don't get sucked into the American mindset of borrowing and accumulating debt to the gills. Have a long range plan (goals) AND write them down! Modify and update the plan regularly.... AND look for any door of opportunity.... When she sees it, recognize it, check it out thoroughly and when confirmed....slide on through that door before it closes!

            TFred,
We took $50 a month from our paychecks and luckily invested wisely. It looks as if our 17 year old daughter's college is all paid for with chump change and we didn't even continue for the whole 17 years.

Solid advise there for the youngster. I especially like the part about not tootin' yer own horn!

                Greetings Lye,

I spoke too soon,on my kind of balances, its Libor plus 1.5%,if your on the upper tier with over 3 mil on balance its Libor plus .25%.

Thanks for the advice on my daughter,to all.She was born with only 2 fingers on her left hand,so Im saving and investing all I can for her future, trying to get her a head start when shes on her own.Amazing how a child can change your perpective on life. Before she was born,I spent alot, saved little, and didnt worry about much of anything.

Now my entire focus is on providing for her future, mine has taken a backseat.I know Suze Oreman would disagree.

                cordially Tom

The best thing you can do for her (imo) is instill a great work ethic and help her to enjoy doing her best. In the long haul it won't be your efforts, or the wealth you accumulate for her that carry her through.... but her ability to roll on without you. I know some fellas my age who were given everything as young adults.... and they have very little today. My father gave me very little materially.... but he taught me to be proud of my accomplishments and he was proud of me when I tried hard.... and hard on me when I was a slacker. I guess he layed a foundation for me and allowed me to build my future from there.

I like the streamer too, but I don't like the way somebody over there's been messing with it. I think they've got some sloppy java programmers tinkering with it lately, becuase when I run it on my laptop (which I've been doing lately due to the malware infection on my main machine) I notice that it seems to eat up huge amounts of RAM. So I monitored it and discovered that the console alone, without the streamer or any charts open, consumes 25MB of RAM. There is no way it should need that much. Each chart opened uses an additional 3.7MB and the Streamer about the same. A couple years ago when I used to run the Streamer on this laptop alot, I rarely ran out of memory. Since then I've added another 180MB and now I frequently get programs shutting down on me due to insufficient RAM, and that with fewer charts open. I believe somebody writing their applets screwed 'em up, they don't know how to manage memory resources, and they assume that just because they're running machines with 60GB of RAM they think everybody is.
