But why post about them at all? That's my question. My impression of Ernie's board is a forum to exchange stock ideas, techniques, etc. Rob appreciates your scalp posts but I'm trying to understand your motivation for posting them? To show that you're successfully scalping?

I think that what the good doctor is doing, is just great. When he says that he is buying something, or does a little write-up on a company, or even disagrees with someone, then I personally take his opinion more seriously than someone who justs says what on their mind... There is more merit to someone's opinion when their track record is consistent. I think Jack has proven that he consistently makes good trades (whether they are for a few pennys, or not) and I always click on the link to his thread when I see a new post.
Dave, I also like your independent thinking. Keep it up!

As far as I'm concerned Jack should keep posting the quick trades...if I happen to see his post on a timely basis and I have time... I check them out to see what is going on. Even after he sold AAPL I was still interested in it...but I wouldn't even been looking at it if he hadn't posted it...I just happened to choose FORM instead...Both would've worked.
Apparently I saw something different than Jack in AAPL because I liked it at a different point...But I sorta think I know what he's doing and it is of interest to me.
Also, I believe I've seen him post losers too...Nobody can be right all the time...Thx Jack....Doug(IIC)
EDIT...also, sometimes I go back and look at trades I missed to try to figure out the why if I can...I also do that with some other people too"Trade What Is Happening...Not What You Think Is Gonna Happen"

Anyone can say, "I outperform the market by such and such percent" or "I make so and so dollars every day in the market" But just because someone says something like that, doesn't mean that it is the truth. When your trades are posted and time-stamped and everyone can plainly see what you are doing, when, and the end result, then a certain level of credibility is established. Look at Mr. Market... his 80 something trades consistently beat the benchmark S&P 500 over the same time period. When he posts a pick, everyone takes him seriously. Lately, I've been absolutely killing the market. While it has been going sideways, I have increased my portfolio by ~65% in 7 months!!! But, if I just said that, would you believe me? What if I showed you all my trades? (which I have done) You would believe me then, wouldn't you?

Ebay
Well I got triggered out of my EBAY position for a loss this morning. The fact that I had hedged with the covered calls saved me over a hundred bucks ... on the other hand, if I had just owned the stock without the hedge, I probably wouldn't have sold it yet. I'm sure I must've done something wrong here, but I'm still learning this hedging stuff.—Rob
