    More GOOG

Earlier today Google (GOOG) came to within 0.7% of its all-time high of 558.58. Nice one to just put in the drawer and forget about.

I noticed that a huge number of people were buying the $540 calls yesterday, and selling $540 puts. Guess they knew it wasn't going South.

It's my pick of the year. So, it's in the drawer and out of mind and sight for now. River

          Rob and River,
It's getting hard for me not to sell GOOG after holding for what seems to be a lifetime (actually not quite a year). Maybe this will be the BRKA of communication/advertising unless a big buyback of shares is needed to rarify the stock. What do you see as a long term scenario for GOOG? Thanks for your comments.

            billyjoeY,

I will sit on GOOG shares until the brilliant ones run out of ideas to make it bigger and better. And I don't see that happening soon. And, regardless of so-called competition, I have more faith in the vision of these guys than in any of the competion at this point. I think "put it in the drawer and forget about it" is pretty good advice. That's what I'm doing. For now...River

Billy, I don't really have a sell target per se on this one. I suppose when the graphs on their quarterly earnings begin to show signs of topping off it would be a good time to "ring the register" as the beloved Jim Cramer likes to say. Having said that I'll be quite tempted at $600.

                (afterthought)

Billy, I once saw someone interview Peter Lynch. I forget who the interviewer was, maybe Louis Rukeyser. But when asked the question, “What's the biggest mistake you ever made in investing?” Lynch said, “I sold Wal Mart much too soon.”

Dr. J was saying on 670theScore radio in Chicago on Monday that one ought to buy 10 GOOG calls at the $570 strike.

                      Rob,
I've got to sell some if it hits 600 and I'll bet many others will too. At what point does it become greedy and piggish?

                        Goog $590 +

GOOG has never yet closed above $590, but as I type this at 5 minutes till the close, I see that it's right around $594. Nice ... nice.

                          Goog $600

Google (GOOG) hit exactly $600.00 at 9:40 a.m. (just a few minutes ago).

                          No, I didn't sell yet.

                            Rob,
I attempted to sell 1/3 of my GOOG at 609 , but it was only 3 minutes before market close and it didn't fill. Just got in the door and saw the price.
Am up 43% this time and sold for a 100 point gain a couple years ago. All stocks should be so nice.
