I know it is not like $$$Mr. Market$$$ to take notice of such slights on his capacity, but on his homepage he clearly states that, when playing golf, he usually manages to average one beer per hole. But it is not always easy to remain factual, equitable and charitable.

Dear Employees:

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%. But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off 60 of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me since I believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who would have to go

So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found 60 'Obama' bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change. I gave it to them.

I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.

Thought you might be interested in this forgotten bit of information.........
It was 1987! At a lecture the other day they were playing an old news video of Lt.Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration.

There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree, but what he said was stunning!

He was being drilled by a senator; 'Did you not recently spend close to $60,000 for a home security system?'

Ollie replied, 'Yes, I did, Sir.'

The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience 'Isn't that just a little excessive?'

'No, sir,' continued Ollie.

'No? And why not?' the senator asked.

'Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir.'
'Threatened? By whom?' the senator questioned.
'By a terrorist, sir' Ollie answered.

'Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?'

This is the usual lying propaganda I have come to expect from Pete, who in political matters seldom manages to get his facts straight. When your convictions do that to you, not in a single instance but as a rule, it should teach you something, but Pete prefers to pretend to a freewheeling outlook ("just thought this would be interesting") although it is more a case of him being ready to propagate any lie, as long as he likes it. Anyway:

I think the American public should be made aware of the fact of a complete loss of integrity in a sizeable minority at the very right of its right wing, religious and otherwise. I hope and think that this awareness is already growing.

To use Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful) as a coating for such lies is a disgrace.

1. It is not an article, it is an advertisement. "No truth in advertising" may be an exaggeration, but not by much.

2. There are not many socialists in the US. Anyone calling Obama or Democrats socialists is just using the word socialist as a swear word. Articles with swear words are generally not to be trusted, advertisements with swear words in the titles and subtitles stand a fair chance of being totally ridiculous.

3. The advertisement claims that all wrongs in the world, and especially the economical crisis, are due to the Democrats. That sounds too much like a comfortable truth (for Republicans) to be true. They start with Carter, almost 33 years ago. In that period, we had 20 years of Republican presidents. The implied message is that Republican presidents (and representatives) are such wusses that they can only raise their hands helplessly while the Democrats ruin the country.

4. Usually you would try to track down the organization behind the ad, to get an idea of bias. This seems to be a new kid on the block, so no luck there.

5. They say Global Warming is a scam! Then it must be true, as that is what you like to hear so much! Just check the arguments given against the links I have presented in the global warming thread and return to sanity. (Why would they spoil a wonderful analysis with such transparent lies? Probably because they don't expect the public to check up on the facts. But if they expect that, why trouble themselves with economic analyses at all? Making up things that sound good is much more rewarding. Which they probably did.)

6. Check their analysis of the credit crunch against those on major investment sites and try more analyses than one.

I hope you get the idea.

This is rubbish.
