Stratton is my favorite in Vt. Beautiful village, bed and breakfasts, shops, apres ski and totally great skiing. Many steep, narrow, and twisting fir lined slopes make for great skiing especially if it's snowing. It gets very quiet because of the trees and when it's snowing the combination is superb. They also have a large gondola lift to the top of the mountain which is advantageous when it's windy, 0 degrees, and blizzard conditions. One 4 hour lesson from an instructor in the morning and you would be skiing the intermediate slopes in the afternoon. We should get a group together from here and set up a weekend up there or Hunter or Windham in NY.
Again I'm not really a skier, I've been and will go again but mostly I've gone with my family and the older we get the less family excursions there are, regrettably.

We usually leave at 4:30 am an are there by 8:30 am. Ski all day from 9 am to 4 pm and have something to eat and a few drinks and leave by 6 pm and are home by 10 pm. Long day but worth it if you're into skiing.

It definitely helps if you have some type of a 4 wheel drive vehicle.

Well, you mentioned Vermont...Only Suicide 6 I ever heard of:

We should hook up in Vermont some weekend. Maybe Stratton or Killington. That wouldn't be to far a drive for you would it? It's about a 6.5 hr. drive from where I live in New Jersey. We could get a group together some weekend after the first of the year.

"The legendary fun camp for those who love powder and dig folky." Located deep in the Backcountry north of Golden, BC, Chatter Creek is known for it’s larger than life terrain hosting Cat Skiing, Ski Touring and Snowmobiling backcountry adventures.

I think it has to do with the apres ski stuff more than the skiing.
