Hey Billy!.... But I'll bet you still have a strong "union" representation there, huh?....

One of Bedford County VA's largest employer (Rubatex) shut down and moved a couple of years ago due to the URW's refusal to work with the company.

I was getting fuel early this morning and heard a guy in the store bitching about Rubatex and how they screwed Bedford County and screwed him and his family and his future etc, etc, etc.... If I had not had my little boy with me I'd have engaged him in a "little discussion".... I knew that such a discussion between me and a hard-line union member would (at the very least) provoke some language that my three year old ought not hear right now, so I held off till another day.Ssssssss!
    BEEF!... it's whats for dinner!

$500 billion? I only wish it were that little. We'll spend alot more than that before its through. It would have been easier to just buy the entire country, lock, stock and barrel (think about it dumbshit bushie, how many barrels could you have added to the reserves for what you spent securing (??) iraq's oil supply?). But you make an excellent point Ernie...we've blown that wad and could have spent it much more wisely. And now, look out a decade or so. Who's the real threat on the horizon? Its not al queda, although they'll always be a nuisance, its going to be China and our old nemesis, Russia. From a military standpoint, we've got to look at the real potential enemy and it will be those 2 countries in my opinion. Shouldn't we be thinking about how to bolster our defenses for them instead of wasting our money trying to secure a couple of blocks around the green zone in Baghdad? That's a huge clusterphuck that will never be straightened out and its bushie's clusterphuck so I say we leave it in that state for all to view for the rest of time, and then start focusing on the real enemy of the future.

I've got news for you..if we bring our troops home, the war is ended and we don't lose. If he had spent the $500 billion here shoring up our homeland security we would be a lot safer and 3,000 troops wouldn't have lost their lives.

Oh..and that money wouldn't have gone to Halliburton...hmmm.

However we went over there, lost 3,000 young Americans and spent $500 billion for NOTHING!

Sure I support the troops and I wish I could support every family member who has lost a loved one or had their families turned upside down by this war. Calling it unnecessary is not being unpatriotic nor is it being disrespectful to the brave young soldiers who do what they are being told to do.

But come on....let's be reasonable, we're not going to secure Iraq. There's going to be civil war and another dictator will step in. Why spend another dime or lose another drop of American blood over this??

Yea yea yea I know...the terrorists will come here and kill us if we don't do something. Guess what, they will come here and kill us anyway. Geez I wish I had that $500 billion for homeland security now!

        Halliburton moving

DUBAI (AP)--U.S. oil services giant Halliburton Co. (HAL) will shift its corporate headquarters from Houston to Dubai, Chief Executive Dave Lesar said Sunday.

Halliburton will maintain a corporate office in Houston, but the company will be controlled from its office in the United Arab Emirates, company spokeswoman Cathy Mann explained.

"Halliburton is opening its corporate headquarters in Dubai while maintaining a corporate office in Houston," Mann said in an e-mail to The AP. "The chairman, president and CEO will office from and be based in Dubai to run the company from the UAE."

She clarified "he will work from and his office will be in Dubai."

It's not like that money went into anything productive either. How much is just gone into numbered bank accounts somewhere?

If W and co. were rational and honest they would have pursued the real "enemy" in Afghanistan and the budget could have been used to fund research, infrastructure, health care, real security and a million other things that would help the US and its citizens. The only positive thing about the Iraq debacle is the Kurds are free of the crazies to the south and they are great friends of the USA.

What next? The gov't will have to inflate its way out of the huge budget deficits W created. Even Al Gore could have done a better job.

Next election? Take a look at Ron Paul. Doubt if he gets elected, but he's the only candidate not owned by some lobby. He also believes in following the Constitution. Naw, he'll never be elected.

I'll get you a check out in the mail, as soon as the government decides to pay reparations for taking my great, great grandpa's land and sticking him on a reservation.

What would have happened if the elder Bush (41) had run Iraq out of Kuwait killed Sadam and cleared out the troops? I believe this is what he hoped for, but didn't look in the right hole. Remember all the hoopla over the job not being finished? I don't think it ever will be finished.

Has anyone noticed that this administration has managed to drive China and Russia back together as well? Not sure how that was even possible since Condi's a Russia "expert" and all. And W even "looked into" Putin's eyes and everything.

Scary to know the US still has two more years of this assuming they don't decide they have to stay in office for our own protection.

Still looking for OBL and those pesky WMD? "Nope, they're not over here".
I do not think that there is serious threat to the USA safety.
Not stupid are at power in Russia. They care about their country. The USA presses on it from all sides, economically, politically. The USA presses on a small group of venal politicians who protect what they have stolen in Russia.
They don’t have democracy and it is impossible to build it for 15 years of independence.

It is possible to define exactly that earlier or later CIA will put a loyal government to power of this rich country ... and it is unobligatory to do this as in Ukraine – by means of revolution. Why? In the long-term perspective they will rear a loyal government which disarms a country and there will be only rich in resources territory.
What prevents from earning at Russia right now? Nothing

Somewhere, not in the administration of one or another president, there is a concrete course of policy of the USA against Russia. And a threat will be removed.
In fact, the USSR was removed.

                                More Troops to do what?

I have no problem with sending more troops to Iraq, but only if you "Unleash" the finest military force in the world and let them do the job they were trained to do. Tying there hands with fears of imprisonment for "water boarding" chasing terrorists into mosques etc. is totally ludicrous .Just sending troops over trying to fight a politically correct war is futile , and it is analagous to putting men slowly into a "meat grinder" similar to what happened in Vietnam . I f the liberals unleashed the "Dogs of War" ....the battles in Iraq would be succesful, and the war would be over in short order. Semper Fi !
