    NFI - Oversold?? You betcha

I just bought a boatload of NFI at around $5.00/share. I think this stuff got oversold in the New Century hysteria. Let's see what happens. Looks like some strong buying today.

Wish I had thought of this last week...doh!

oh..yea...it also pays a dividend of $5.60/share...a 170% yield, if you can believe that!

            Mr. Market,

I've heard the following stats which, if correct , confirm that you're more huge than ever.

            1. Financial institutions defined as "subprime lenders" lend out 13.3% of their funds in "subprime loans"
            2. On average , 7% of these loans will default
            3. This is only a .93% rate of default even the bank of billyjoe could live with
            that.

            When is NFI's next div?

yep, I agree with your assessment of NFI....obviously, since I bought a buttload of the stuff also, (last week at 5 as well as at 8.5-10 earlier)

it's interesting that we agree on this stock again now, especially since this is one of the stocks that I found you on back in the Yahoo days (IART was the other), when my NFI buy coincided with your HUGE pick at the time.

I see no reason that NFI wouldn't pay out at least $4 in dividends this year, so how can you go wrong buying at 5? TI for 2006 is more than $4, and they are required by being a REIT to distribute at least 90% of it. So unless they de-REIT or go BK before the year is up, a yield of 80% or better from here is pretty much in the bank. now THAT's a juicy dividend!

Bear Sterns agrees with us, too:

At Yahoo Finance, you get free stock quotes, up-to-date news, portfolio management resources, international market data, social interaction and mortgage rates that help you manage your financial life.

when this chart reverts back to the historically normal range of 8-10% we'll see who was swimming naked back in the halcyon days of sub-5% interest rates. until then, it's anyone's guess. I believe NFI will probably be gone before then, swallowed by the likes of Bear Stearns, or taken private... but they should still pay me my 2007 dividends before that!

Yes...buyouts are most likely..however, the sharks will buy the ones with the most value first.

NFI did not close the way I had hoped today, but I'll watch it the next couple of weeks and may sell off half of my position if it fails to get moving.

I decided to play a bit too, and bought yesterday at around 5.15. When it gets to 6.85 or so, I'll sell a chunk. Or when the position drops too much, of course.

                          Regards,

                              dividend?

who wants to predict when they might pay it? What were the dates of the past few dividend payments??
