A director of alternative-energy company Hoku Scientific Inc. sold 45,000 shares of common stock under a prearranged trading plan, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Monday.

In a Form 4 filed with the SEC, Kenton T. Eldridge reported he sold the shares Wednesday for $10 to $10.35 apiece.

The stock sale was conducted under a prearranged 10b5-1 trading plan which allows a company insider to set up a program in advance for such transactions and proceed with them even if he or she comes into possession of material non-public information.

Insiders file Form 4s with the SEC to report transactions in their companies' shares. Open market purchases and sales must be reported within two business days of the transaction.

Hoku Scientific is based in Kapolei, Hawaii."

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Three Congressmen have requested a hearing be held to investigate U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval process concerning Dendreon Corp.'s (DNDN) cancer vaccine, Provenge, CNBC reported Thursday.
CNBC said the three Congressmen sent a letter to House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman John Dingell, D-Mich., requesting an investigation be held to investigate conflicts of interest and ethical violations against two members of the FDA team involved in the Provenge debate.
The three Congressmen are Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind.; Rep. Mike Michaud, R-Maine; and Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio,
Shares of Dendreon surged on the news, rising 86 cents, or 15%, to $6.50. The company's shares can be volatile because more than a third of its float are sold short.
In May, the Food and Drug Administration requested more clinical data to support the effectiveness of Provenge as a prostate cancer drug. The move was surprising because an FDA panel two months earlier backed the treatment, by a 13-4 vote. The FDA typically follows its panels' advice but is not required to do so.
Provenge has provoked much debate in the medical and investment community because of questions about the strength of the data and the treatment's merits. Provenge is the first so-called active cellular immunotherapy drug, which tries to fight cancer by harnessing the body's immune system, to seek FDA approval. Current treatments attack the cancer cells directly.
The debate surrounding Provenge centered on the fact that it failed to meet its primary goal of reducing the advancement of cancer but lengthened survival rates. An analysis of the data showed that those receiving Provenge lived about 4.5 months longer than men not receiving the treatment. However, that data only involved 127 men. The small size of the Provenge trials was another criticism.
In the end, the treatment's survival rates as well as its rather benign safety profile was enough to win a recommendation from the FDA panel. At the time, though, some panel members said the FDA should require the company to complete a larger ongoing study of Provenge to demonstrate whether the therapy really works, while others suggested the product be allowed on the market on a limited basis until final data from a trial were released in 2010.

I dunno about this one. A long time ago a couple of my friends actually invested in a sure-thing great FILM with a studio. They lost their shirts. It was because there were never any actual profits reported. They were all hidden by the studio in the form of one expense or another.

River ...yes this company has not made a profit .......never marry a company .....and never bet the ranch on one stock . That having been said there are several films and series on the www.empirefilmgroup.com site that I would not mind seeing ........I like films like The Bourne Affair .....and Cinderella Man......I despise the politically correct films like that Multi Million Dollar Redford, Cruise Film that BOMBED , Lions and Lambs . I won't to be entertained at the movies ......not PREACHED to . Empire does have some nice projects that I think the public will want to see.......basically you are making a bet on the unknown,,,,,,but remember .."He or she who fails to take that first step in life ......is DOOMED to spend his entire life on one leg" . I did make money with Spicy Pickle ......and as long as you monitor your position closely .....I think some money can be made here with EFGU!
