[quote=jiesen;90205]Thanks for taking up the reins, Ski! I like the new rules, and think the extra flexibility will make the game even more enjoyable than it is already.

One suggestion I have would be to allow for a monthly rotation of scorekeeper- that way nobody is pressured into taking on too much, and the game can survive longer and evolve as it should over time, rather than become a burden on any one person, or a point of contention. So, in that vein, I would like to volunteer for the job for February (as long as you don't mind, Ski) and ask that someone also volunteer ahead of time for March as well. Now that my chemistry class is done, and my POTY duties are coming to an end, I should have a clear enough schedule to handle at least one short month on scorekeeping... Speaking of which, are there any volunteers for running the 2008 Pick of the Year contest?

I am up for suggestions that keep the POTW up and running here at Ernies. Your suggestion is fine with me. You can have it for February and if at the end of February no one else can take it for March I should have no problem taking it back over again. Let's see how the new concepts on entries and trades works out this month and re-evaluate them at or near the end of the month to see if they might need to be adjusted or kept as is. Good show on your part Jiesen. The game belongs to all of us and it is a good idea for everyone to participate in running it and making it better and more exciting to participate and play.
Thanks for the positive feedback from everyone.

Gonna give it a try keeping it going. It's longevity here is just one of those things you would hate to see interupted for whatever reasons. I think everyone feels that and hopefully will follow Jiesen's suggestion to help it continue on in any capacity they can.
Good luck with the new site and I will be registering and particapating soon.

        StkyTreat,
        ca$h please...Thanks for keeping score Mr. Rob....Today 12:17 AM
Are you on drugs or just don't pay attention to current events or both. Read back a few pages and pick up on what is going on here and around you.
I bet your grades are indicative of this type of response on your part.

        River,
I am wonderful and so much more. But then you know that.

Regarding cash as your position. A cash position is free in the 1st day. No entry or pick means no penalty on Monday. At the close of day on Monday at 4 pm the free ride ends and the charges/penalties begin at a 1% charge for Tuesday, the 1st day and each successive day without a pick increases the penalties as per the my earlier post. In review of the penalties I was thinking that the way I worded it could be confusing. I did not mean 1% + 3 % + 4 % + 5 % for a total of 10 %. That would be 7% higher than what we have now and excessive in my mind. I meant that if you sat out Monday without making a pick there would be no penalty. If you came in sometime on Tuesday the penalty for the week would be 1%. If you sat out Monday and Tuesday and came in on Wednesday with a pick the penalty would be 3%. And Thursday would be 4% and Friday 5%. So the additional penalties for coming in late would adjust the lessening risk of holding any pick less than the whole week. If you sat out all week without playing the penalty would remain the same at 3% for the week. The penalties during the week allow you to stay out of the game to a point where you think a stock will accelerate and affords a better entry point at a charge of the penalties accrued to the day of entry. I would rather see everyone play everyday or all week but I thought the options would enliven the game.
I thought that by providing the option to make 5 trades per week instead of 2 would make it more advantageous to stay in the game from Monday thru Friday. The penalties are just to make one pay for the chance and opportunity to enhance their positions over the week. Any questions or thoughts are always welcome.
I had said that nothing else had changed but the cash position had. I was also thinking to stimulate play there should be a credit for those that play every week or enough successive weeks where they should be rewarded for that because it is definitely harder to play everyweek all week than to pick and choose and play less than all week. Any thoughts on that?

This is a mistake. I know this is a mistake. I am being pushed into this. I would like BLUD I think, maybe. (you're lucky it's not yours)

Very cryptic River. Never do anything you don't want to do or feel comfortable with and never let anyone push you. Do you want BLUD looonng or sht? You have Mondays as a freebie anyway. Every Monday is for free no penalty for Monday. Let me know how you want it please?

This is what we have so far this morning. Remember Mondays are for free but Tuesdays will cost you 1% so if you don't get in on Monday then your looking at a 1% penalty regardless which makes Mondays not so free.

Um...LOOOONG, of course. Somewhere in the previous rules I think it says you get it long unless otherwise specified.

Mondays free until 4PM EST. But Tuesday (or Wed. in this case), beginning at market open, I would start with a 1% penalty, right? And I still get 2 picks before incurring a 3+ pick penalty? Well, okay, I can live with that. This should be fun!

                              River,
I don't even know where the previous rules are or what they state but I love the way you type long. You've got BLUD - looooong. Tomorrow is a holiday so no penalties on holidays seems sensible. So anything would start on Wednesday as the 1st day for penalties or extra trades. I hope it becomes more fun. I am hoping the options and changes will stimulate the desire and interest to play and compete. You are in BLUD - long at 10:46 a.m.
