Another genius move was buying CME at 100 and selling at 200. I plan on living at least to see V hit 175 and by then 60 - 65 will be numbers to laugh at. We just need one more market bubble then everything will go into platinum and be stored inside my carved in a mountainside house.

I did buy BSC this morning in the pre-market between 9.20 and 9.30. I read early this morning on Briefing.com that a guy named Joe Lewis, a british billionaire who owns 10% of BSC, was leading a stockholders revolt and suing BSC's officers for not performing the judiciary duties as they should and trying to find the highest price and buyer for the company. the same article stated that a rumor was being widely circulated that JPM was going to raise their bid to $10 or above. by the time Briefing.com had the news on their wire the stock was trading at around $9. I figured it was worth a shot and made the entry. Just a play on the news. It looked like the stock was going to go off for awhile when it was over $13.80 range. JPM and BSC both stated that they thought the stocks value was worth at least $80. I think there is a good chance for a bidding war or the suit and this guy Lewis may drive the stocks price up much farther.
I don't think this was a good sign for V today. with the markets up like they were V should have move significantly higher don't you think. I still like the stock and am waiting for my buy in the $50 to $55 range or lower. besides i would rather own BSC from $9 with the chance of it going to $20-$30 range or higher than the chances of V going from $65 to $75 or so. less risk and greater chance of much bigger reward. but good luck with your play. and you're right. two nice moves and plays with GOOG and CME

I'll bet you a buck that BSC never sees $30 in our lifetime(In the present configuration anyway)...I commend you for the quick buy on the news...But as I said to Ernie and Peter...Take the Money and Run!!!

This article was published pre-m(at least parts of it)...I just wasn't prepared to take advantage of it http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/3442da0a-f...077b07658.html

          Karel,
Some day you'll kick yourself for trimming, but 30+% isn't small change either.

Well, I was just following the herd, including you guys.

And I won't exactly kick myself for trimming, because I realized that I didn't have a money management plan for my portfolio. I decided on something simple: when the total portfolio value rises 15%, I take 2/3rds of those gains off the table. Rinse and repeat. So I need to produce cash, once in a while.

Are VISA'S Numbers that good ?

You bet your A** V had good numbers . Consider these facts :

                1. Revenues were 1.5 Billion ....street expected 1.43 Billion
                2. Earnings per share .52 higher than street estimate of .44
                3. VISA has made it esier to process small debt transactions low as 1 dollar
                4. International sales growth is the real plum.....THINK CHINA that is where the "MOTHERLODE" will be . Foreign sales growth overall should be 20% Plus!
                5. Revenue should grow 11-15% and earnings should grow by 20%% plus per year
                6. BEIJING OLYMPICS VISA ia a big sponsor. The Chinese Yuppies are buying, and they unlike their traditional frugal parents ......see stuff on TV and they want to buy it now......VISA will explode in China
                7. BOTTOM LINE VISA will be over 100 before the years end !

                      Pete,
I've got V as a buy if she drops to 83.58 with stop at 81.07. Target if she stays above 81.07 is 97.50 , but I'm not worried. V is ruling portfolio today.

I like V to $100 . . . my question: how does a non-chartist pick targets, stops, buy points, etc? This is a friendly question .

I think V takes out the $90 marker for the May 16 expiry. At least I hope it does.

Easy! It is not a matter of price action, patterns or whatevers in my case, but a matter of money management. I like to hold stocks as long as they continue to gain, but if a stock gains, say, 33%, my exposure is becoming too great, so I trim. That is all. Trimming also builds a kind of cushion against drops. MTL has been trimmed four times already in my real money portfolio, and the trimmings are already greater than my initial investment. Some cushion!

                              Regards,
