I am looking to buy silver again at these depressed prices or lower. if the shit hits the fan and things really go sour it will be an asset to have stashed. i am also stocking up on everything that is a staple. canned goods, dry milk, small denomination bills (1-5-10 dollar bills so you don't need anyone to make much change for you). I even put a couple of 50 gallon drums in for storing about 100 gallons of gas. just in case things get to the point where certain items become hard to get. it wouldn't hurt to have some self protection items on hand in one's house.
    .

Spoken like a true redneck, Ski. (That IS a compliment!) I agree with you.

Commodities do not have the same volume as currency trading, so I would suspect that a trend reversal in commodities will follow the trend reversal in the USD. This will give everyone plenty of time to dump dollars and buy commodities. I give deflation a period of 1 to 2 years max.

Once the dollar dumping occurs, the US is in for a period of hyper-inflation. This is the reason that I prescribe to the idea of buying commodities for the long term. Once the next round of inflation starts, there won't be much to stop it.

I would strongly suggest to anyone who understands the above to take the time now to get your financial house in order and become a net saver if you are not one already. During the next decade, peace of mind will not come easily for the majority of US baby boomers. The old saying goes, "You reap what you sow"

A Must Read For Gold BUGS

Dr Steve Sjuggerud and 2 Gold experts comment on GOLD in the 10/20/08 issue of the Free "Daily Wealth"....I do not subscribe to any newsletters mentioned ......nor will I comment on any . I have dabbled in gold but wound up losing with Gold Stocks .....my Gold coins took 20 years to make any money .....and now I am ahead on physical gold bullion coins .....but think about it ,I could have placed the money into a stock like LUK and came out well ahead of what I made . So do your homework first but read the following report .....VERRRRRRRY Interesting!

Our investment philosophy here at DailyWealth is this: Buy things of extraordinary value at a time when nobody else wants them... Then, sell when people are willing to pay any price. You see, we believe most investors take way too much risk. So our mission at DailyWealth is to show you how to avoid risky investments – and perform better than the average investor. We believe that you can make a lot of money, safely, by doing the opposite of what is most popular. We cover the day-to-day opportunities we see in the markets. We highlight the sectors that look most promising (and the traps that are most likely to get you into trouble). And we share strategies from a range of perspectives at our firm... so you can learn how our experts view the markets, with investment wisdom that you'll use over and over again. In a nutshell, we're committed to sharing the ideas that will help you build a lifetime of wealth. Thank you for joining us.

Frankly I think Ski is right: he did slit a NVA's throat in that hole. All Cohen has done is exhume the body.

Really, I think they are planning on putting gold into that hole--from investors--and not planning on digging any out of it.
NB in case you are wondering ......ELRA closed dwon 5% and change at close of 10/2/08 . Even Mr Cohen could not prop up this turkey
    here is the Chart !

Actually it seems to be affected somewhat...But not so much with me...Somebody has to run these buildings as long as they are open....I manage 110 of them and most are owner occupied. Cost cutting yes...But still OK...Anyway, my forte is cost control...Best, Doug
