IIC...I've got a question for you.
I placed a limit order on ELN today for $23.40. ELN dropped to $12.40, but my order didn't fill. Has this ever happened to you?

I've attached the time and sales data at the time you're talking about. The ones highlighted by gray are the only trades at 23.40 - only a total of 1600 shares. Then price remained above it the rest of the day. Why did you miss out? Well, when you put a limit order in place you go in line -first in, first served. Sometimes you're the first in line, sometimes not. Today there were others in front of you and you never got served. Had price continued to trade at 23.40 and all the other bidders served and sold your bid would have been filled, but there were only a few trades at that price, so you missed out. Bad luck dude.

On a similar note, I don't know where you get that info. But I've seen where my trade never shows up a number of times. In fact, one time I ended up paying more than any official record I could find showed for the hod by 8 cents. That was an odd lot that time BTW.

I am thinking that everything is not as centralized as they make out...Do you know anything about this?...Thx

Yes, I too very often can't find my order in the raw data I'm looking at. And youve just reminded me that different data sources often have varying data on time and sales. I have a number of data sources, but I usually have my charting backfill with prophet.net since I get futures backfill from them, but I also have the option to get backfill from MyTrack, Ameritrade, and quote.com. I also have real-time data feed from IB (which I KNOW doesn't have all data but rather just what IB executes). The raw data I've got doesn't show every data source out there, so there were likely other trades I'm not seeing, but in any case, it's the same reason why Webs wasn't filled today. That price was the LOD, and obviously the line of bidders wasn't taken out and he was left with a sad face today - bad luck Webs. Frustrating for me today too -- had I had another 2 pennies stop loss I'd still be long!!

Thx Spike...but with my daytrading exploits since 8/23 I have not traded in the first half hour. That is a whole other ballgame...and I don't know that game...maybe later on. Anyway, it is going better than I had planned on over 70 trades so far.

Billy...I'm new to daytrading. I decided to learn about it in January. I paper traded from Fe-Je...then made a few trades. The method I'm using is basically News based gaps on vol(that's mostly what you'll find in my pre-lists), wait for a p/b on lo vol...possible lo vol consolidation and then wait for a possible 2nd move on vol. Later there are other setups but they are all based on p/v. I also watch the Naz direction and group movement in realtime...none of this 20 min delayed cr*p. I still keep DGO for A/H research though.

Anyway...I still have some intermediate holdings...7 of 'em including my fave... WITS... which I rate as a SUPER DUPER ULTRA DELUXE STRONG BUY at this point.

Back to daytrading...I have tons to learn. Like yesterday, during one period when the mkt was gonna turn down...I pulled up metal stocks...got defensive and picked off RIO for a quickie...when the Naz reversed up...I cashed it for a nice little gainer.

I started daytrading only on 8/23. Through 9/24 I had 62 trades for +20.36% including commish. And I don't even have the right tools yet...e.g. Direct Access. I also have not used my margin...I will not do that until I am more comfortable with this... which will take some time. Maybe I have been lucky???

This week I made 6 trades on Monday 3up 3dn...but I lost $$$ for the day. Tuesday I made 4 trades...3up 1dn and did pretty good.

I am a long time Canslimmer...turned Swing Trader ...turned...well, we'll see??? But let me tell 'ya...I'm having fun.

I'm not a Master Technician by any means...that's why I like reading Spike's take right here at Mr. M...However, I know Canslim inside/out...not that I consider myself a Canslimmer anymore...but I still carry some of the influences of it with me....It served me well from '83-'00.

On a final note...I enjoy talking to almost everybody...but I try to surround myself with better traders than I am...I have quite a network of great people to trade ideas with...Best, IIC
