    Great Thread

Early workouts in the morning makes the rest of your day feel better. If I can't make it to the gym, 15-20 minutes of Yoga or walking help me wake up and get my day started. Eat fresh food, eat your fruits and vegetables. Stay away from fast food and too many drugs. Source: Because I said so.

Dr Antioch has spoken ......LOL. I agree there is no magic pill.....your good health is YOUR responsibility . One Dr on the radio suggested taking Vitamin C as an anti cancer aid.......he said the optimal amount would be 5,000 to 7,000 MILLIGRAMS per day......Gezzzzzzz I am only taking 1,000 mg per day!

I'm only taking 600mg in vitamin C supplements daily. Who knew I needed to up that by 10x to fight cancer? That's a lot of pills to power down every day...

Here is what the Mayo Clinic has to say on Vitamin C

Find out how much of this essential nutrient you need each day, and learn what can happen if you get too much.

The Dr I heard said he was giving UP to 7,000 mg per day to his patients.... ..he was an O.D. not an M.D ......so who knows? ......perhaps the 2,000 mg Of Vitamin C mentioned in the article would be a reasonable compromise?

thanks for the heads-up, mimo. insomnia sucks... and I suffer from that enough already. so I'll not be taking any more than 1000mg of Vitamin C per day, thank you. (not that I would have anyway, as it's just too much trouble for me)

                  Low "t"

As a man ages his testosterone levels begin to drop, and this can result in loss of sex drive and a host of other issues. Before you call in the Indian Snake Charmer you may wish to read this article: http://www.myhealthwire.com/news/menshealth/428

Folks I try to limit my beef intake, and I do take the recommended Carlson Norwegian Cod Liver oil......perhaps the smoothest I have ever tasted!

Phoenix, I know lots of medicines are derived from plants and I can get most of the plants. I just need to figure out how to prepare them. For instance, the main ingredient of the meds used to remove skin tags come from arborvitae bushes. Just put in blender and dilute, but to what ratio?

                        Watch That Steak Barbecue!

The June 2013 edition of Nutrition Action Health Letter indicates for a longer life , curtail your red meat input.
They say that in 2012, The Harvard School Of Public Health published data on the results of a study involving 120,000 participants. It was concluded that after 28 Years , that those who ate the most red meat, roughly 2 servings per day, had a 30% HIGHER risk of dying than those who ate the least , about one half serving per day.
A serving was defined as 3 oz of cooked steak or burger, 1 oz ham or sausage, or 1/2 oz bacon.
Folks I am certain these are definitely NOT Mr Market size portions LOL.
I read the article while eating a breakfast consisting of 2 eggs and 3 strips of bacon....cooked in a microwave about 1 minute per slice.
Also on the list of "BAD" substances was Carnitine , choline, and phosphatidylcholine ( Lecithin) which appear to cause plaque build up in the arteries.
Finally Ginkgo Biloba in a study was found to be WORTHLESS in aiding memory, and furthermore was shown in another study to , when given in large doses) cause liver cancer in mice and "SOME" evidence that it caused thyroid cancer in rats.

Folks we all know that death follows life , but no one is in a rush to jump into the bone box, so perhaps the old adage of "All in Moderation" is the code to live by.

                          High Blood Pressure!

High Blood Pressure is a condition that can have a detrimental effect upon your health , if not managed properly.
In this article it is suggested that certain nitrate vegetables may lower your blood pressure. I have NOT purchased their program and neither do I endorse it , but common sense dictates that a lower calorie , healthy diet coupled with exercise can lower blood pressure.
Here is the article ......take it for what it is worth.

Phoenix, I'd prefer death to drinking glasses of beetroot juice. I do eat large quantities of oranges, apples, bananas, carrots, radishes as well as strawberries, raspberries, grapes, tomatoes, and peaches in season and my blood pressure is 120/74.

While lying in bed at night before sleep , I place the Bose Ear Buds into my ears and listen to "DESIRE" by Kelly Howell from a company called Brain Sync .
The tape or cd can be purchased from Amazon sometimes used , cheaper than from the company itself. Here is the link for the one I listen to http://www.brainsync.com/fulfill-you...-s-desire.html
