Phoenix, I disagree with the article on statins. My cousin is an MD and says around 40% of his patients have side effects. I've been on 2 different statins one being Lipitor, and here's what happened. I call statins opportunistic drugs as they mask their bad reactions to mimic previous ailments. With statin #1 I had a constant shoulder pain that mysteriously went away after I was switched to Lipitor. I'd had shoulder problems before so I thought little about the statin causing the problem.Upon starting Lipitor I had a slight pain in my right ankle I attributed to the smashing of aluminum cans for recycling.I stopped using my foot to smash cans. The pain got worse for over 6 months to the point of making it very difficult to walk without constant pain. I was switched to Zetia, a non statin cholesterol reducer. My ankle pain disappeared within 24 hours. I've talked to several others over age 50 with similar stories. There seems to be no explanation for where the pain will occur only that it doesn't go away until statin usage is stopped. The 2 to 2.5% side effect number given by the drug companies is crap. Just ask friends and see if you get any similar stories.

Billie perhaps the Good Dr was "GREASED" by the pharmaceutical outfits to write that article.....one must always try to follow the money trail!

It is all computer controlled , and the results are smooth as silk.
An alternative, is to buy Bolt House Beverages's "Green Goodness" , a fantastic all natural drink that is sold from the supermarket refrigerator case. Outstanding Product!
      P7,

You probably know this, but just in case. Bolthouse Farms was acquired by Campbell Soup (CPB) in 2012. I like buying the companies whose goods and services I use and enjoy. Perhaps this is a good time to look at CPB.

Thank You Mr M I was unaware of that. Bolt house made a Tomato like juice called Vegit , that was perhaps the best tasting tomato vegetable juice I had ever tasted, but it had been discontinued.

Cholesterol is used in tissue repair, strengthening cell membranes and influencing their membrane fluidity, manufacturing bile salts, as a precursor to steroid hormones (including estrogen, testosterone, cortisone), and as the raw material for the production of vitamin D (Kent 2002; Blakemore and Jennett 2001).

          the above is from:

          http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Cholesterol

So I guess it makes sense that if you take a drug to lower your cholesterol it will take longer to repair tissue damage like what you had happen to your foot than had you not lowered your cholesterol, eh?

Perhaps all in moderation. I don't recall the name of the health guru some years back who had decreased his cholesterol so low ......that a subsequent brain tumor he had gotten was attributed to that ! You do need some cholesterol to maintain healthy brain tissue .

My cholesterol was around 236 at it's worst. Now with swimming etc. it stays close to 200. A few years ago I was diagnosed with thyroiditis. Could work 12 hours a day 7 days a week and couldn't sleep. This went on for 2 months. I really felt bad and my cholesterol was 130. It cleared up as mysteriously as it appeared. The cholesterol went back up over 200. They did a scan on my thyroid and suspected cancer. Thyroid problems run in my family both hyperthyroid and hypothyroid.

Don't Throw Out Those Spotted Brown Bananas!

                  Use the following recipe instead.

Bananas which have turned spotted and brown , should be peeled , cut up and placed into small freezer bags. They can then be used in the following recipe
                  Banana "ice cream" for dessert.
                  This healthy recipe is DELICIOUS!
Freeze chopped bananas, then blend with some almond milk and cocoa powder. ( I use UNSWEETENED Almond milk. ) Place in a blender and process. If you want more of a vanilla flavor, SKIP the cocoa powder.
The frozen bananas have the same consistency as ice cream and taste amazing. You can flavor the concoction any way you want with fruits, peanut butter, or my personal favorite: Frozen Strawberries
Add protein powder for an extra boost of protein that you won't even taste.

High Blood Pressure is a serious problem ,but can be controlled by medication. Make sure you consult with a Doctor if you have this problem . Your diet may also help. According to an article in the September 2013 Reader's Digest the following foods may be helpful.
                      1. Sesame and Rice Bran oil when used together in cooking or on salads , may, according to the article cause a drop in blood pressure almost comparable to the medication used for this purpose.
                      2. Eating 2 small helpings of Purple Majesty Potatoes decrease blood pressure about 4% without causing weight gain.
                      3. People who drank about 8 ounces of beetroot juice , experienced a 10 mm Hg drop in Blood Pressure! Folks Hg is the symbol for Mercury that is used in some of the professional blood pressure measuring devices.

Just some simple tips that may help with your high blood pressure problem.

This is a potentially great investment if you could find a listed company to buy stock in.
