    Another health tip

I just subscribed to "Prevention magazine" and according to their promotional literature , "Eating just one serving of pink grapefruit or watermelon per day can cut a man's risk of developing prostate cancer by 82%!" , and they said "yes you read it right 82%"

The small capsule that may save your life!

Folks many physicians are now checking your blood level for vitamin D . One important study of 13,000 initially healthy men and women , conducted by John Hopkins, found that Vitamin D deficiency was associated with a 26% increase in DEATH from any cause during a median period of nine years!
Your Dr can determine , with a special blood test , if your are deficient in vitamin D!
More people are prone to suffer Vitamin shortage during the winter months.
When you look to buy a Vitamin D supplement make sure you look for Vitamin D3 which is twice as potent as Vitamin D2.
I myself use the Costco Kirkland brand of Vitamin D3 which is sold in a bottle which contains 600 very small capsules . Each capsule contains 2000 I.U. of Vitamin D3.
I usually take one or 2 of these per day!

The Bottom line here is that it is more prudent to lay out a few bucks for some Vitamin D3 soft gels than it is to be laid out at a wake!

Phoenix, I had a "D" level less than half of normal and it took me over 6 months of taking D3 to get it normal. Don't feel any better or worse , but I haven't croaked yet.

Billie a friend of mine never knew he was low in Vitamin D until his urologist informed him of his low score after a blood test.
Billie bottom line it is cheap insurance .......why take chances?

            Eat those berries!

Harvard’s School of Public Health recently released a study on compounds called anthocyanins and the heart-healthy benefits they carry. These compounds are found in the highest quantities in blueberries and strawberries.

The study looked at participants for more than 20 years and found that the people eating strawberries and blueberries were 32% less likely to suffer from heart disease than people who didn’t eat berries.

Phoenix, Unfortunately we don't have a Costco near. How much per capsule are those 2000 units? Many of the stores really rip you off if you don't check. One trick is a big bottle with fewer capsules. The 2 pack bottles of 1000 unit D-3 are about .04 each. Also the fish oil capsules are healthy. My cousin is my doctor . He says the D-3 is very important even if you can't feel a difference also he tells me to take 1000mg. fish oil per day, for heart health.

                      Lemon Balm Boosts Memory

Folks the last thing you wish to consider is a fading memory and dementia. Supposedly the young George Bush is having issues with this problem now.
No one wants to be waiting in the corner of some nursing home , muttering to himself , waiting for Brunhilda to change his Depends.
Participants in a memory study scored significantly better a few hours after taking 1,600 mg capsules of dried lemon balm than those that took a placebo.
Swanson sells Lemon Balm for around $2.39 a bottle of 60 500 mg capsules.
I am looking into taking the supplement.

Another article on possible Stroke Damage Prevention :
Irish coffee - a blend of caffeine and alcohol - has inspired a bizarre treatment which could save stroke victims from severe brain damage, scientists reveal today

I just do at least 10 Sudoku every morning when I get up (on my Kindle that has a keyboard) while I take my Centrum silver, glucosamine, calcium & vit. D3. Am healthy as a horse "and more stylish too". You're kidding about W, right?

The George Book Dementia article , I noticed while checking out at the local Stop & Shop.
Apparently he and his wife now reside in separate homes, he doesn't remember his years in office .....and he is becoming more and more reclusive.
I remember when the Tabloids came out with the John Edwards baby story , of course John denied all ......but we all know how that turned out!

Google has articles 2004-2006 but nothing recent. Snopes has nothing I could find. Sounds like tabloid fodder.
