Pick of The Year (PoTY) 2015

Pick of The Year (PoTY) 2014

Pick of The Year (PoTY) 2013

I am wondering who were the top 5 overall in 2013-2016. I think River and billyjoe stood out.

I am wondering what the average return for the group was for 2013-2016.
I came up with the following:

    2016 (so far) +48%
    2015 -7%
    2014 -35%
    2013 +32%

Only Barb made money all four years.

Thanks again Louetta for working out the details.

      Year - Players ---- % Gain --- $ Total

      2013 - 11 --- +32% --- $14529
      2014 - 14 --- -35% --- $9100
      2015 - 14 --- -7% --- $13020
      2016 - 15 --- +48% --- $22200 (as of August 31)

      All years ---------------- $58840

Putting it all together, if a person "invested" $1000 in each stock every year ($54000) and then sold at the end of the year, total gain would have been $4840 - about a 9% gain.

River, I've prepared a legal form you can use when needed. Fill in blanks with appropriate words of your choice.

Rules for Pick of The Year (PoTY) 2016
OK. Let’s do it. Let’s keep it simple as before.

You have until the end of January up to 11:59 PM PST to make a pick - starting price will be the closing price, (per Yahoo, unless it's shown that the Yahoo price is incorrect) the last trading day of January. Any stock trading on the NASDAQ, AMEX or NYSE is fair game, long or short.

We welcome IPOs if picked by the end of January and starting price will be the closing price of the IPO.

Picks submitted after January are welcome, but comes with a 20% penalty of the closing price.

Discussions and concerns are welcome. Good Luck!

I reasoned in January that it would need to be a high risk situation if I wanted a quick big return. I picked this one because I believe technology is our big strength today. Also virtual reality is an important buzzword. Also because this stock had a huge short interest. I also figured I needed some money in the game, so I picked it up around 2.30 in my Roth account. As you might guess, it has worked out well so far for me personally and potentially tax wise. It broke out on the P&F charts recently with a price objective of 19.75 .

They keep signing new agreements and the market, as usual, will probably swing the pendulum too far in the near term. It appears that VR is becoming "actual reality" for companies involved in it. My plan is to sell off some shares and then use the proceeds to take a position in NVDA, the real leader in the industry, if it comes back to fill that big gap around 75. The P/E will be a bit more reasonable.

I'm a slow learner. Just realized that even if SHLD goes to zero the most I gain is 100% and I could still finish way behind the leaders. Still nobody ever went broke taking 100%.
