Gina Raimondo has been getting lots of good publicity concerning her trip to China. Heard for the first time just now that she is being groomed to replace that person who is now vice-president on the Democratic ticket next year.

Whereas the S&P 500 has crossed the 50-day and post Jackson Hole trend has been positive I bought two Fidelity funds, FBGRX (blue chip growth) and FSPTX (tech). Paid a $75 fee for each, standard Fidelity crap. No wonder the richest person in MA is not Patriots owner Bob Kraft but Abigail Johnson who inherited control of Fidelity. I have never dealt with Fidelity before, though they are headquarted in Boston, but I'd like to explore having some portion of money parked in some solid investment place and their funds do have good records. FSELX (chips - not one I bot) has been amazing considering it invests in established companies. We'll see what happens.Comment

For the duration I'm going 50% in stocks and 50% in US treasuries with maturities 1 year and under. If the market goes up (and it often does in the last quarter) I'll make some money in the stocks and about 5.5% at an annual rate in the treasuries. If the market goes down I lose on the stocks, but I'm only 50% in and again I get about the same 5.5% at an annual rate in the treasuries to soften the blow.Comment

I would like to report the birth of CNBC anchor Kelly Evans' fifth child (one at a time) since she married in 2017, a pretty good pace. For the first time her girls now outnumber her boys. Just noticed she's got a hash tag #5under6 so maybe it took her a few months to get started. Still more impressive.Comment
