Yeah, pulling the trigger is one thing. Knowing when to get out is another altogether... how much more can I get from the rest of this position? I feel like I can get 50% or more, for sure.... but then again, I don't want to get greedy and miss the boat while I'm up 25% or 30% either. 30% in two months would be a very nice gain on this one. It was $8 just a couple weeks ago, and it could easily be $8 again tomorrow, or next week. I've got it! Limit order at $13 for Friday the 13th. That way I can't miss the boat by not being online when GBTC spikes over 30% for a minute, and comes back down the next. -

2022 PotY Mock Portfolio As of 12/31/22 (~ $2000 positions)
I did a mock portfolio again this year in which I opened $2,000 (approximately) positions in each pick. The portfolio didn’t take into account any penalties, so we ended up with two positions in the green. Needless to say, but I’ll say it anyway, we didn’t fare too well this year. As a group, we ended up losing 35.02% of our mock investment. Just two short years ago, we showed a 68.49% gain. What happened? Oh that’s right, we had a global pandemic, we brought ourselves to the brink of a world war, and the government started printing money like a Monopoly factory to pay for it all. Second place goes to Mr. Market with a minimal lost. Back to back second place titles (2021 and 2022). Top three since 2020.
Third place goes to Antioch. Even with a 20 percent penalty he was able to keep his lost to a single digit.

Weil, here it is: The unofficial (they need to be blessed by John Henry) final standings for the 2022 PotY contest. Congratulations to BillyJoe with a really strong pick, UTHR, in a down market. A 37.76% return during a market in which the Dow was down 5.63%, the S&P was down 15%, and the NASDAQ was down a massive 26.65% is pretty darn good in my book. Congrats also to second and third place finishers Mr. Market with TLPPF and Antioch with GRBK. As for the rest of us, better luck year and the year after that too because this bear market is going to be around for a while, I think. Here we are heading into our last week with things looking dicey as usual. Our long time leader, BillyJoe’s UTHR, remains atop the leaderboard, in the green and beating all three major indices. Mr. Market’s TLPPF continues to hold down 2nd place, beating all three indices and hovering around the break even mark. In a little bit of a shakeup, Massimo’s IPA jumped into third place after a strong week. Not bad for our leaders given the year the market has had. As for the rest of us … ** sigh **.
