2024 PotY Contest Standings As of Market Close, Sept 6

We had a real downer this week as the economic data was all abysmal. All three indices were down hard and looked weak going into the finish on Friday. The pullback affected the leaderboard somewhat. Mr. Market’s CLRPF was still far ahead of the field in first place and actually crept up despite the market pullback, and BillyJoe’s MNKD remained in second, but Minni17’s HALO overtook Molly’s ARM to move into third. This is the first time since Feb 9 that ARM wasn’t in the top three. Buckle up, pickers. We could be in for a wild ride.

2024 PotY Contest Standings As of Market Close, Sept 20

The market continued its bounce off the precipitous drop of two weeks ago, and all three indices ended up higher with the Dow and S&P making new all-time highs. Still not sure what to make of the slight divergence of the NASDAQ, but all’s well that ends well. Not much movement on the leaderboard, but BillyJoe’s MNKD and Molly’s ARM did some arm wrestling for second and third with MNKD coming out on top. They are both showing great gains in the 90+% range, but nothing compared the moon shot of Mr. Market’s CLRPF. How’s a 249% gain sound? Is this thing going to be a four bagger? Stay tuned, and we’ll see.

Just for fun, every year I do a mock portfolio with our picks to see how we have performed as a group. I use an arbitrary amount for the size of our positions, $10,000. So far, we are doing pretty good this year with an incredible 29.5% return. It’s better than any year I can remember since I’ve been keeping records. Nice picking, pickers!!

2024 PotY Contest Standings As of Market Close, Sept 27

It was an up week for all three indices, and the motion stirred the pot a little in our standings. Do I have to say it at this point? Mr. Market’s CLRPF continues to sit in its stratospheric perch at number 1. This week, though, Molly’s ARM and BillyJoe’s MNKD swapped places as resilient ARM climbed back into second, pushing MNKD back into third. The overall performance of the picks continues to look pretty good, but we still have three months to go so let’s just keep the champagne on chill.

Greetings, pickers! It was a very nice week for the market. All three indices were up and we saw a nice boost in the share price of many of our picks. There were no changes on the leaderboard, however, although Molly’s resurgent, 2nd place ARM has now come within a canon shot of Mr. Market’s 1st place pick CLRPF. BillyJoe’s solid MNKD continues to hold down 3rd not too far behind ARM. There are five additional picks in the green with three more hovering around the break even point. Pretty good picking, pickers. We’re rounding the last corner now and will soon be in the home stretch so pull up a chair and enjoy the race.

2024 PotY Contest Standings As of Market Close, Oct 18

It was a little bit of a choppy week, but all three indices finished in the green. The leaderboard remained unchanged with Mr. Market’s CLRPF, Molly’s ARM, and BillyJoe’s MNKD finishing first, second, and third respectively. Things have tightened up a little at the top, though. CLRPF still has a fairly substantial lead, but ARM and MNKD are within striking distance with two and a half long months to go. Antioch’s TSM also made a nice move up this week on good earnings and with a little post earnings momentum, could make a move into the top three. In short, it’s a race. So get your lawn chairs out, grab a cold one from the cooler, lather on some sun screen, and wait for them to zip down the final straightaway.

Another mixed week, with no changes on the leaderboard. Mr. Market’s CLRPF still stands on Mount Olympus in 1st place, followed by Molly’s ARM in 2nd, and BillyJoe’s MNKD in 3rd. The indices did close the week with some bearishness, so I’ll be a little wary going into next week. The NASDAQ closed with a somewhat bearish shooting star while the Dow closed with an extremely bearish engulfing bar. It’s a weekend, though, and sentiments can change and/or news can effect everything, so don’t bet the farm on anything just yet. We’ll just have to see, won’t we.

It was a down week with all three indices losing ground. It didn’t seem to affect our picks too badly in terms of value, but there was a little shuffling on the leaderboard. Mr. Market’s stalwart CLRPF maintained a strong lead in 1st place, but BillyJoe’s MNKD leapfrogged Molly’s ARM to take over 2nd with ARM in 3rd.

The indices look a little like they’re standing on the edge of a precipice, so my antenna is a up. In particular, those big red bars on all three indices on Thursday sure had me quaking in my “long” boots. The buyers came in to attempt a rescue on Friday, but the market sort of petered out into the close so my spider sense is still tingling. News changes everything, though, so we’ll just have to see what the weekend and the next wave of earnings bring.

What a week, huh? Now that’s what I call a strong finish. All the stock pyrotechnics notwithstanding, the leaderboard remained the same. Mr. Market’s CLRPF remained firmly in 1st, followed by BillyJoe’s MNKD in 2nd, and Molly’s ARM in 3rd. Those three picks have all doubled in price since the start of the contest. Not bad, pickers. We also had another pick, Louetta’s DKNG, go green this week, giving us 9 in total. In another piece of good news, Jimmy W’s long suffering XMTR made a stunning move this week to thrust it pretty close to the break even point. Way to go XMTR.

What a difference a day makes, huh? Things were sailing along and then boom. The NASDAQ, in particular, really took it on the chin. Other than pushing the value of everything down, it really didn’t really affect the standings, though. Mr. Market’s CLRPF still sits in 1st, BillyJoe’s MNKD holds second, and Molly’s ARM is in 3rd. I don’t know about you, but I’m going to be sitting on pins and needles at market open on Monday. Will the profit taking continue transforming this into a major correction, or will the buyers come rushing back in to buy on the dip? We’ll see.

2024 PotY Contest Standings As of Market Close, Nov 22

The market bounced off its selloff last week with the Dow rebounding strongly, the S&P rebounding modestly, and the NASDAQ rebounding ever so slightly. As for the standings, things tightened up significantly. The order remained the same with Mr. Market’s CLRPF in 1st, BillyJoe’s MNKD in 2nd, and Molly’s ARM in third but … the difference between CLRPF and MNKD is only 16 percentage points with ARM an additional 13 percentage points behind. Translation: It’s anybody’s game now with a little more than a month to go. It’ll be interesting watching the leaders gallop towards the finish line. Good luck all.
