I have 22 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. How is this possible? Every day there are hundreds of stocks setting new highs, no matter what happens in the overall market. Many of these stocks are still at very reasonable valuations. Afraid of buying stocks at their highs? Think of it this way: a new high is really a future floor for companies with solid financial underpinnings. Quantitative momentum modeling makes it easy to identify stocks that can continue this upward momentum trend. Why does this happen? It's really very simple..ask me about what investors and cows have in common. I am $$$ MR. MARKET $$$. I AM HUGE!!! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses. You can join in on the fun. Some of you must use some kind of automatic charting and trend-plotting software. I'm interested in a particular scenario. Let's say I have decided for my own reasons that I want to find any stock that is in an uptrend going back 6 months' worth of trading sessions. Is there a software package that can determine this set of stocks, then also tell me which of these plotted uptrends has the steepest upward slope over that 6 month period?
thanks, park
You just want today's price to be above the price six months ago? or more complicated than that? I'm thinking you could use R-Squared to verify its a solid uptrend.
You can use MSN's moneycentral deluxe screener, under "Stock price history" just choose "% Price change last 6 mos." and set it to "Hight as possible"
SPEA.OB is up around 10,000% in the past 2 days... that's probably up more than almost any other stock in 6 months. Elvis lives! Who knew?
But just because a stock is up more than others over a certain time doesn't mean it's a good buy- it's more likely that it's more expensive than it should be.
Frankly, you've missed the bus and should wait. Unless in the next few days it comes back to a channel or there is a channel turn up to chase. But if you MUST chase it, by at intraday support to give yourself an edge.
Hi Spike, I'm looking into COGT, looks like it just had a channel turndown, and moved into the lower red channel. Could be looking for 38.2% or 50% retrace from its high @ 37.37 I am thinking this stock is a great long term hold, and trying to decide on an entry point, should I wait for a lower channel touch (and 38.2% fib retracement) to buy @ 30.30 or wait for a 50% retrace at 28.10?
Also curious if I'm right on that channel turndown, as this is the first time I've tried to find one.
Yes, that turn down is a warning for long, especially with the double top there and possible SHS formation. I'd suggest 50% retrace entry if you're looking for one. That's near channel support.
Thanks Spike! Have you been following ANTP? This this has gone wild, I'm looking for a pull back buy, @ what point do you think would be best to jump in?

Ya what a pocket rocket!
Intraday I see SHS on Friday projecting $5.00 or so. Intraday, S1 is 6.30, and S2 is 3.60. S2 might be good. But wow what a mover. This can bite yer bum if you're not careful.
Spike any thoughts on MVK ??? Came up as a Cup and Handle in IIC's weekly . Fundamentaly looks good. A little confusing as to next yrs earnings.....but maybe your tea leaves will give an opinion Thanks
