I definitely not go long on NTE. It looks like a good possible short trade to me.

It's strange you say that Newborn, because DHB will be announcing earnings, after the bell tomorrow. Could this be prediciting a good earnings report?

Short GM, F
Webs,
I have been telling you that a good play would be to short GM. Today GM announced that the projected $4-5 earnings would turn out to be a $1-2 loss! And remember, Ford (F) the sister stock does exactly what the General does, so look for lower prices the next few days. I see GM at $29-30 soon, and Ford may test the $10 mark.

In any case GM hit $29.20 this morning, (from $34), so the short made money!
those companies just aren't being run as effeciently as TM, and it's killing them.
(oh yeah, and good call on the GM short. I fully agree!)

Yeah, nice call on that one New-born.
The larger weekly channel (http://www.mrmarketishuge.com/forum/...ntid=368&stc=1) has been broken now, and that is very bad for GM technically.
The short at 34.82 here http://www.mrmarketishuge.com/forum/...&postcount=197 never threatened the stop and today, boom! busted the big channel. Also busted the price support at 29.34. I'll come back at close and work out the gap projection on the down side. It all depends on the closing price and how much of this gap she fills today.

I certanily do not want to be negative. This news from GM Is really bad news.
Many people will be effected all over the country. I do not sell short and never bet against the shooter. But It seems ther will be many companies that you can short. This will effect the economy and the stock market.

TELL ME I'M WRONG
No wonder you don't short! You are Ray LONG! [smile]
It is awful news for everyone. First, as GM goes, so goes the Dow. Start calculating what will happen to the Dow now that the General is wounded.
Secondly, the blind greed of the UAW has got to be stopped to save the US economy. GM has 2 people retired for every 1 working, and the healthcare and retirement costs are staggering. Furthermore, in 1984 GM signed a contract with the UAW in which GM agreed that they would pay a laidoff employee 95% of his income for up to two years! That's quality management, isn't it?
Thirdly, the deal with FIAT. GM paid them $4.4 Billion not to buy Fiat. Awful management. Rick Wagoner: YOU'RE FIRED!
Both F and GM have had their bonds downgraded to junk status. That is awful news for us all.
Now for the REAL problem: TOO MUCH GOV'T SPENDING is destroying the US ecomomy. God says an economy runs off of work, savings, and investment. The US economy runs off of debt, spending and credit. It must collapse sooner or later.
The world history of Representative Republics (i.e. they type of government we have here): 200 years, more or less, and then they fail because the people figure out how to vote themselves money from the treasury. They have all died the same kind of death: the Treasury failed. The government that follows is a dictatorship.
I am sorry at the news, too.

Shorters help the market
RL,
Shorting a stock is not sin. Indeed, shorters help a market. On a dark day like today, many might say that shorters hurt the falling stocks. But the truth is that every short seller is a guaranteed buyer, and they help the stock recover. Probably most people who own GM today want out, and who is going to buy the stock? The farsighted people who speculated that GM was due to fall because it was overpriced.
What we need here is Spike or Jiesen to find the bottom for us because Rick Wagoner is still going to pay that $2 divy!
