    week 3 POTW explanation

To open the week, I chose HRT, a healthcare related stock that has been showing alot of bullish price action over the last few months. The sector was improving and I really like the intraday set-up with HRT leading into the week. This chart explains what I was looking at. The black vertical line is the opening of trading for the week:

Once I sold HRT, I moved to being long on AOS. I like this company's fundamentals and I knew that they would report earnings on Monday, Jan 22. I was hoping for some type of price appreciation going into the report, but AOS did not perform very well after I chose it... basically traded flat. The following link will direct you to some of my posts already made regarding AOS: LINK

So that's why I played last week the way that I did...

I will take IMOS long for next week. Posted briefly about it on my thread earlier in the week. Will explain more if I finish in the top three next week.

Being fourth is boring. Congratulations, Spike, Webs, and our glorious scorekeeper Peanuts. At least I got a second place in something. Proud to be evolved! (Though not necessarily from Neanderthals.)

Week 3 - End of Week Score

After the poor showing yesterday for the evening wear, much of the audience left. They were not too enthusiastic to see Friday's swimsuit section of the pageant. Those who left did not miss much. The judges were squirming in their seats.

Boos were heard from the crowd when Lyehopper stepped out wearing scuba gear. dmk112 wore a thong and one judge puked. Skiracer found some of Mr. Market's old trunks and tried to keep them around his waist as he walked the catwalk, but when he did his turn, the crowd learned why Mr Market threw out those AOB trunks... there's a big hole in it!

The winners for the swimsuit part of the pageant were:
3rd- sirtuck, wearing VHS tape, and that's it
2nd- Karel, wearing Neanderthal wolf-skin bottoms
1st- stenzrob, wearing nothing at all but the bald eagle!

After the judges tallied the scores from each section of the contest, the top 3 for the pageant were chosen from the motley mix. And the winners are... wait, what's this? It looks like a tie for 2nd and 3rd! Peanuts and Websman have both had great scores, but Websman barely gets the silver trophy. Peanuts was beaten by 8/100ths of a percentage point to take the bronze trophy. And the winner, by a margin of only 1/10th of percentage point issssssssssssssssssss..................... SPIKEFADER!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations, Spike... you are the stock picking pageant winner.

    GOLD: SPIKEFADER
    SILVER: WEBSMAN
    BRONZE: PEANUTS

I concur with ski. Joisey is crowded enough already.
On the POTW, EXP was nice enough to make the effort to bring me back (slightly) above water for the week. And speaking of water, I am so looking forward to the swimsuit competition!

    regards ... stenz

Whoa, just wait a minute. We don't want him up here in NJ. Lock up the Florida state lines.

    week 3, day 3

Week 3 - Stock Pickers Pageant
    Day 3 - Evening Wear

All contestants were to present themselves to the judges wearing their choice of attire:

The judges were not impressed with many of the contestants attire, except for the best ones of this section- Stkytreat, wearing neon NUAN shorts brought the crowd and the judges to their feet with the best in show. Second place went to riverbabe with a beautiful forest green gown. And third went to a contestant that tried to grab another contestant's wardrobe before he realized what was going on- a quick change got New-born baby 3rd place for this section of the pageant... nice choo-choo PJ's, dude

Lyehopper streaked across the stage with a FORG and received more negative points. Didn't your mother ever tell you to never run with forgs?
Gatorman's aligator-skin boots did not sit well with the PETA judges
Skiracer should reconsider wearing Mr. Market's clothing after he throws it in the trash
and Peter Hansen may as well become a spokesman for Hansen Energy Drinks when he walks around in his Monster suit

    Upcoming events are as follows:
    Friday: Swimsuit

    1= long
    -1= short

    closed positions:
1: peanuts - long HRT opening price Tuesday - closed @ $28.7899 Tuesday, 6.7479% gain applied to player's score
2: Websman - long HEB opening price Tuesday - closed @ $2.49 Wednesday, 6.8667% gain applied to player's score
    3: dmk112 - long CLAY opening price Tuesday - closed @ 17.17 Thursday, 6.1236% loss applied to player's score
4: StkyTreat - ATHR long opening price Tuesday - closed @ 23.54 Thursday, 4.1141% loss applied to player's score
    5: New-born baby - CSX short 12:36 Thursday - closed @ 35.55 Thursday, 1.6644% gain applied to player's score

Adding the totals for the 3 sections so far concluded, gives us our leaderboard for the pageant:

    GOLD: Websman 6.8667%
    SILVER: peanuts 6.6379%
    BRONZE: spikefader 4.98%

Thanks, Peanuts. And truth is I got out of CSX profitably today, too, in real life. I didn't have to eat that trade (praise the Lord!).
