That's true...but there's also a better chance of getting slaughtered on the low priced ones...Doug(IIC)Originally posted by skiracerWebs,
Nothing directed at you or anyone. Just much easier to get a larger % gain on the under $5 and lower stocks in my opinion. Just my feelings and no big one way or another. I do feel that it is a strategy to get the larger % gain an if you own them it's great. Takes alot less to move to a much larger % gain with the cheaper ones than with one over $15 or $20. I just feel that raising the limit to $5 an above would make it that much more interesting or even to $10 an above. Try it out and compare the % gains to previous weeks."Trade What Is Happening...Not What You Think Is Gonna Happen"

Yes IIC.... BUT.... they are very simple rules. I could have made just one long complicated rule but I opted for 10 simple ones.lol And just wait till Spike and Ski get through advising me dude!!! We'll have to offer a instructional video or something like that.lolOriginally posted by IICGeez Lye...So many rules.
Also, I would like to voice my objection...the first week should count...the market doesn't stop because someone is on vacation...And anyway...who takes vacation this week anyway again?
Also...I think you meant 1/09...not 12/09.
And also...she is not my girlfriend.
And also again...since you are going with "Cash"...I'm going with First Cash...FCFS long this week...although I'm not interested in possibly buying it unless it cracks 30...Happy New Year...Doug(IIC)
yes.... I meant Jan not Dec.... my mind should clear up by mid spring.
yeah!.... SSSSURE she ain't Doug.... wink wink.
Hey I'm not going with the stock (ticker) "CASH".... I'm going into "cash" you know as in a cash position.... I now refer you to the 10 simple rules again.hehehe.... You can pick cash as your opening position now and be entered!.... So now you can just sit in cash till your FCFS shows it can break resistance and hits $30 Doug. Cool huh? Hey!!! and you can always short sell it if that SHS fully develops.
btw... thanks IIC, you're-da-best dude....BEEF!... it's whats for dinner!

Maybe we should think about this as a (3-months, for instance) daily average dollar volume criteria to be used as an entry in the POTW. Such as a $1M daily dollar volume minimum criteria.
I personally think the sub-$5 stocks are a pipe dream as a pick for a "portfolio" and even in many cases as a trading play. As a for instance, Spike's winner BEL traded a whopping 500 shares total in the first couple of hours last Friday. This is not a security where one can take a significant trading position ($10K, for instance) without moving the market in that stock that day. So the POTW might be serving only as an academic exercise that has little usefulness in the real world.Last edited by Guest; 01-03-2006, 12:53 AM.

This is not a security where one can take a significant trading position ($10K, for instance) without totally messing up the stock that day. So the POTW can turn out to be only an academic exercise that has little usefulness in the real world.
Seriously fellas keep these sugestions flowing here. We'll revise the rules for Volume, Price and allow Limits by the end of the week and I'll post the revised rules before next weeks contest.BEEF!... it's whats for dinner!

Ya, I agree that BEL's volume is very low. I'd pumped myself up so much with that write up that I just HAD to pick it! And I sometimes feel the way ski does about the cheapies. I'd be happy with minimum rule and volume rule. Whatever is going to make everyone happy.
New_born...I have feeling you are correct about the market. It could get ugly and fast this week. I probably should be shorting in POTW.
Lye, cancel my previous pick and short NTY for me will ya.
