Well, perhaps it is good to know for people who would like to join, that this is a non-profit project fighting diseases, that doesn't or hardly does impact your normal work with the computer. As soon as real work is being done, the calculations are throttled down or stopped. You also don't need to be online all the time, as each task packet is small, the results packets too, and the exchange of packets is only once in a day or so on an average system. Join the team, currently rank 538!

BTW, I have a strong impression that most of the teams around us are deceased projects. It has taken us 2 days to overtake teams "active" since 2003. Let's work our way up to the live teams!

You may not have realized, but the Mr Market is HUGE team for D2OL is an excellent way to gain bragging points for your computing power, I mean, your computer's (or computers'). The fastest computer crunches the most data, and our current top three HUGE members are SpikeFader, Linz(?) and LaLa2(??). Then a great gap, yours truly, scifos, Websman and yaoyao, see here.

If this teams keeps on crunching, the top 100 should be doable. But more is better! So why not download the software, install it, put in your email address, and then join the team. Show some muscle!

A dial up conection is not a problem at all. It is perfectly possible to work offline (there is an offline button), let your computer crunch for a day or more (take care to queue enough tasks), go online and send your finished tasks. Come on folks!

Actually, I have a pretty great computer. I just haven't been running the software the last two days. I'm on a AMD +3000 w/ 512MB DDR ram, 200GB disk space, ATI 8500 AGP (I think its 8500)

My machines are about 4 years old. That's why I'm the last one even I have two nodes running. I'm glad that I could help no matter how little my contribution is.

                  Yup...me to.

I live in the woods, but cable service just became available. I wish I would have known it before I prepayed for 3 more months of dial up. 3 more months and I'll be typing at a high rate of speed and in 3-D stereo!

And by the looks of the latest Mr Market team's best candidate 'discovered' so far, it looks like it's a recruitment commercial similar to the U.S Army's "We need you" ad. Check it out in the pic!

How to do a Manual Update to submit your results to the D2OL server.

OK, say you are dial up and only log onto the net occasionally. You may need to manually update to submit your PC's discoveries. Here's what you do:

Click the icon in the pink circle. That will open the "Status" window. Click on the Manual Update circled in red. This will force communication with the D2OL server and it should upload your work. You will get a message as to whether it was successful or failed. If it failed, it should give you a reason in one of the text boxes.\

NB: Don't click "Flush all tasks" as this will wipe your work.
