      • KBH wassup?

I've been watching KBH over the last several weeks. I'm really surprised it's not doing much better. I thought since BMHC did so well, KBH would not be too far behind.

Does anyone have any info. on what is causing this lack of movement (upward)?

Do you think that things will improve due to Hurricane Katrina?

        Thanks,
        Evie

BMHC has definately outperformed, and that might be explained by the fact that it's in a different sector to KBH. BMHC is in services/home improvement http://finance.yahoo.com/q/in?s=BMHC and KBH is in Industrial goods/Residential contruction http://finance.yahoo.com/q/in?s=KBH. Or it could be that it's just a better chart

You can see how they're tracking each other here.

But I'm expecting a KBH monthly 5th wave up to new highs to start soon and KBH should have it's day soon. WLS and MTH are gonna do well too.

            Spike, et al,
Here's KBH chart for today. Notice the s~h~s setup? My question: where to
            draw the neckline?

                Runner,
All the homebuilders have the same chart. Look at TOL. Bearish, s~h~s calling for $35.

By the way, both TOL and KBH have the complex s~s~h~h~s~s setup. Amazing how their charts run together.

In any case, I am short KBH. And yesterday I sold naked calls on TOL. So I am putting my money where my mouth is.

And Runner, I think things are going to be rather bearish here pretty quickly. I am talking about the entire market. We shall see.

Just checked out MDC's chart. Also the same formation: complex head and shoulders.

NB, I'm a stickler for details. I wouldn't draw the neckline like that - because it's going through the middle of candles. Remember, a neckline is representative of where price finds support on a trendline, and the reaction shoulder formation gives the line support validation. That means when the neckline is actually broken after the shoulder, it has symbolic bearish value; it means that support has broken. That's all. And remember it doesn't have to be horizontal or slope tilted to the left on all uptrending stocks; it can slope to the right, as in the chart I post. Now, one could argue that your red and green colored line shows a smaller right and left shoulder, and again, strictly speaking, it would still be sloped closer to the pink neckline I've drawn. Why? Because that's where the bottom of the candles stop and show the support. If you understand what I mean, draw that other neckline I'm talking about. You'll see that price broke that neckline in late August, and then bullishly reacted to 'take out' the right shoulder, virtually invalidating that SHS pattern. But the current pink line I've drawn is very much in play as a SHS. The neckline stands yet to be broken, but if it is broken, then we may see $53.00 in smart fashion and would tell me that I was off on my weekly wave count for KBH. But in any case, KBH has a bearish bias due to the weekly channel short last week, and this week the channel turn down. I certainly won't be a buyer at the neckline support, and if the rest of the market feels the same way that will be why that neckline won't hold. And it will be yet another graphical representation of where the support WAS and perhaps why no support is there to buy the neckline and invalidate the pattern. Patterns are only valid until they aren't, right!? heh
