If the market's down 5% and your stock is down 3%, it's not a loser? It may have a higher alpha but on an absolute return basis, it's still a loser.=============================

Spoken like a long-term investor! But seriously, you can't be too wrong too long or you run out of money. And if you're managing money for others, relative performance is nice but absolute performance is what client's are paying you for.

I wish you guys would hush up and just let MM play his plan.
You guys are welcome to your way of trading; leave well enough alone and focus on your own game. MM is happy, and profitable, and so are the vast majority of people who come here.
Newbies, including you guys, are welcome to either take his freely offered picks, or pass 'em up. Anything else and you're falling into the vat of trolls...just stirring up trouble. MM isn't going to change his ways based on anything you guys are gonna throw up. Why would he? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. lol

Regarding my 19.95 buy price for ggb .. i noticed with my last 2 trades following mrmarketishuge .. both stocks went down before going up. On my way out the door this morning, i put in a buy for ggb at 19.95 ... (because two weeks ago when i was looking at ggb and having fun with the bee gee's music, i noticed the price hovered in the high 19's ..so, i was lucky this morning when it slipped down to 19.95 ...
mrmarketishuge!

I am using a sell limit. I just looked up the term (told u i was new). I have a few positions that I probably should get out of (not mrmarket picks), one is in gas EGN ... I will get out when the taxman tells me to. But in my way of looking at things there's always "hope" for a good stock to come back.
senior members ... BEAR with me

What is this, a cult? Is asking a question, or asking a poster to explain his/her methods, wrong? No one is trying to change anyone else's style, Spike.
For the way Ernie plays his picks, diversification seems to be a LOT better to reduce risk than stops.

Maybe your questions are in one of the other recent threads focussing on MM's style.....

I agree with you on diversifying a portfolio, BTW. I think in one of my early posts I explained how excluding my swing trades and one or two daytrades, I typically hold a 50 - 75 position portfolio. It uses no stops, letting the diversification keep me from getting hit too hard if any one position heads south.
