$$$Mr. Market$$$, FWIW I know of another one that I've been trying for months to lure over here. (And you, other one, if you're reading this, then you know who you are. ) Very smart, very active trader (d/t's too), who also just happens to be very attractive; could contribute a lot here. Come on, you-know-who-you-are, this is the best traders' forum on the net! $$$Mr. Market$$$ is HUGE! Oh yeah: and don't forget to tell 'em, Rob sent ya.

Thank you. More and more it looks like I'll sell at or near the open Friday. IAAC is weak today.

Dave thanks for the list. I like to run a relative sort in comparison with the S&P500. For example what groups moved off last bottom. From 6/13/06 to current the S&P moved a huge 3.50%. I show top groups as follows.

          Some top producers:
          SILVER +33.75%
          Ind. Oil &Gas +22.08%
          Gold +21.06%
          Copper +19.94%
          Shipping +19.84%
          Oil &gas Refin +19.34%
Major Integrated Oil & Gas +16.36

These are only a few. I like a relative scan as it shows what is moving from last low point in the S&P.

          Thanks for your info

Louetta, I've decided to hold off on buying any of Poormans picks for now. I starting to agree with your idea of holding off on all buys until after labor Day.

The whole mideast situiation and oil prices are another big factor that's keeping me out of the market. The way I look at it, I can't lose cash. There will be plenty of opportunities for the patient investor.

Methinks you are correct. I haven't been able to find my copy of the Stock Trader's Almanac since I moved in June but if memory serves we may have to wait til late in Sept. For the record I bought IAAC and CTCM late today (Thursday) and have sell orders set at 1, 2 and 3 % above the close. If they don't trigger by themselves in the AM I'll reset them til they do go.

I was a little snippy in my comment the other day about the time of year moves...But seriously, Yes we have seen the time of year have some influence the last 6-7 yrs...But it has not always been that way...And although I'm hoping to be Bullish around the same time...I follow the BP as a tool to help me to try to predict market direction...Please check out the BP chart I posted over on my thread a few days back. Of course, nothing is absolute...but I think it is helpful...Best, Doug(IIC)

                  Hi Louetta

How long did you study before you made your first trade, what did you study to prepare for your first trade, what did you buy and how much? Oh yeah, I almost forgot...did you make a profit?

Actually this year is a carbon copy of 04 if you look at the two year semi cycle. http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?c=$sox,uu[w,a]daclyiay[df][pb50!b200!f][vc60][ilb5!lh8,3]

That's just the semi-conductors. If you look at the NASD Composite in '04, you'll see hardly any similarities in the yearly pattern as compared to this year's. Incidentally, in '04, just prior to mid August was the perfect entry point according to that chart.

All of that is hard to say. I might have been fourteen and had been looking over my father's shoulder for some time. I also took the general high school copurse in investing which teaches general Suzie Orman stuff (what's an IRA, a 401K, etc.) I probably bought Nike or something sports related. Don't know if I made money. I have read that a good way to get young people interested is to have them follow and invest in kid related stuff (Disney, clothing stores, etc.) so they kind of understand what they are investing in (the products, anyway).

Geez...I think my crystal ball had a scratch in it the day I checked you out...But I was still close...Gotta give me credit for that

As far as your comment about kids and cos. they may know...That is EXCELLENT advice. Reminds me of my ex-assistant a few years back...Her daughter was in 6th grade...they were learning some stock market basics in her daughter's class and they were having a 2 week stock picking contest...She asked me for a suggestion.

At that time I was high on NDN which I thought was forming a right side of a cup...I figured it would be good for her daughter to pick a company that she could identify with (99 Cents Stores)...I copied a bunch of charts and explained the reasoning behind why I liked it...at the time it wasn't just the chart. I knew her daughter and I tried to explain things like chart patterns...Earnings and projections.

So she picked it and it immediately went down...But after 2 weeks she was green(At which time I really bot it)...didn't win but she was one of the few who were green...I made a bundle on NDN that spring/summer myself...But I was glad that she got an "A" on her project too....Doug(IIC)

PS...I was high on HOTT at one time a few years back...Interesting that I had never heard of it but in talking to my son(He's 26 now) and his friends along with the chart/eps stuff etc...I was able to do very well on that too
