My change due was $12 and change, so I asked her if she could give me two fives instead of the ten, and it confused her so much that another girl working nearby had to come and help her. I feel bad for that girl.

Do you know how far back you have to go to get the common ancestor for 7th-cousins? Nine generations. If you were born in '53 and you consider an average of say about 25 years per generation, the common ancestors you and your 7th-cousin share would have been born around the late 1720s, roughly speaking, about the same time as George Washington (b. 1732).

She was born in Hollywood and raised in a section of North Hills that used to be part of Sepulveda in the San Fernando Valley. It's not far from the CSU Northridge campus. She lived in the same house (on Hayvenhurst Ave.) from the day she was born till the day I snatched her away.

Roanoke, VA would be a great place to retire.

Did she go to Monroe HS???

Here's the thing I remember about Culver City: Some time in the late 80s I was building a whole custom "entertainment area" for this rich, older dude who lived by himself in a condo, in either Venice or Marina Del Rey ( I don't remember which). For one reason or another I had to go buy some electronic gizmo to hook up this guy's 200+ lb. television (which he wanted to be able to fully pull out on telescoping, roller-bearing slides and swivel 180 degrees—try finding hardware that'll do that; you think it's easy?), and I ended up at this huge electronics store on Sepulveda Blvd. in Culver City. I got what I needed (the electronics part, that is ... the sliding/swivel hardware had to be ordered from Houston ... I kid you not).

But here's the memorable part: the Rodney King beating incident took place 5 mos. before I left California. Then, less that a year after living here in Virginia, I was watching the TV coverage of the riots that broke out in the wake of the acquittal of the four cops who were accused of brutalizing King unnecessarily. One of the live shots was from a chopper over Culver City, and I swear that the building that I saw burning was that same electronics store I had been in.

Similarly, about 2 years later, when I watched the cops chase O.J. Simpson to his estate in Brentwood, I suddenly realized that a house in which I had done a lot of carpentry work was about a block away. Then when the prosecutors were laying out their case in the trial, they had him driving right past the First Union Bank where I used to deposit my paychecks in the ATM on Friday.

I'll save the story about the prostitutes in West Hollywood just prior to the '84 L.A. Olympics for another occasion. ....... yes, they were females.

Well...your memory is vivid...but not correct...No buildings burned in Culver City....I live 1 block from Culver City and nothing burned within a mile of me....OJ...Yes...he went down the 405...But he gave up way South of here.

That store...could've been Culver Industrial Hardware...they cater to contractors...Sepulveda in CULVER CITY goes from the 405 up to about Venice Bl. before it becomes LA. My parents live in Culver Crest above where Sepulveda jets North from Jefferson(above Studio Village...which I remember being built early 60's)...You would turn right on Sawtelle coming from LAX South...and then make a few jogs near Overland.

I live about 1 mile East of Sepulveda as you go North near Palms Blvd or the 10.

Funny...I remember them building the 405 in the late 50's...I faintly remember them building the 10

Louetta's Lore...This has become my favorite thread...But where the h*ll is Louetta?

I'm thinkin' that maybe when the QUEEN OF IBD came onboard she noticed that I was here and decided that she couldn't deal with it???...Heck, I'm a SENSITIVE GUY...So I sent her a PM telling her that there are no hard feelings about what she has said about me in the past at other forums and suggesting that she bash me once and get it over with...

Well...since I sent that PM she seems to have abandoned us...That was not my intention...I happen to believe that she really does have some insight to offer...even if she is not my favorite person on the Net...So, Louetta...If you are reading this...Get over it...Let's hear your take....I believe that that are many who would like to read your input...Including me...Thanks...Doug...aka... Mr. Breakout...aka...IIC...aka...Whatever...I'm serious...If I offended you then I am sorry...Wouldn't be the first time I had to apologize to anyone...Doug

Are you 100% positive about that? You may be correct. Maybe it was live shots of looting I saw in Culver City instead of burning. This article states, regarding Thursday, Apr. 30, 1992: "Throughout the day: Thousands loot retail outlets in South-Central Los Angeles, Koreatown, Hollywood, Mid-Wilshire, Watts and Westwood as well as Beverly Hills, Compton, Culver City, Hawthorne, Long Beach, Norwalk and Pomona."

I'm not sure what you mean by that. He didn't "give up," so to speak, until he was arrested at his home in Brentwood, after the police followed him there, and if I remember my geography of the place, Brentwood is north and west of where you are.

Maybe, but I don't think so. It wasn't a hardware store; it was an electronics store ... a particularly well-stocked one as I recall. Shoot, if I was going to go to a hardware store from there, I'd go straight to Busy Bee Hardware on Santa Monica Blvd., not too far from there. I used to sometimes drive a good distance out of my way to go to that store.

My father is interested in the markets and I started messing with it and so a friend of his got me a summer internship at an investment house in Boston and I liked it so I thought I might like to try it as a career.
