        Stonington, Maine - 8:27 a.m.

        Foghorn stirs the resting gulls
        into uproarious laughter.
Their white wings fly open, brush the air
like the twisting skirts of a girl, surprised.
Coffee steam quietly reaches toward the sea.
The sun digs into the water -
chipping away at the surface, it
unearths fireflies and stars alike, which
        fly into our eyes.
        Each blink snaps like magnets.
The deck's weather-beaten wood scatters its paint
in delicate flakes of ivory and moss.
        No one sees them fall.
        Peacefulness is the cat of
lingering sleep, its pleasant weight on my chest, paws kneading -
the sound of my mother's toast
crunching in her mouth as she reads the paper -
        the lobstermen, coming home
        to their joyful dogs.
        Very nice.

The Poormans indicator is quite bullish (seemingly very suddenly). He reports he is 25% in cash, the highest I can remember in quite some time.

Louetta...You mentioned that you might have to subscribe to Poorman's after your IBD subscription runs out next Spring...But you don't have to...not that I'm trying to rob him of customers...But you can subscribe to IBD Monday only edition and still have access to Investors.com and their forums...Would cost quite a bit less than subscribing to Bruce's even w/ his current special.

Too bad you were not around this past Spring when I told everyone how to get the print IBD 5x week for $174yr...Next time I hear they are running a special I'll let everyone know.

Anyway, I think I found my calling in life...Went Cranberry Bogging today...Well, didn't actually get to do it but found 6 bogs...but only 2 were still full...Will miss the whole market day tomorrow as we are leaving early to go to Nantucket...Doug(IIC)

            PS...Tatnic...Nice poem

Thank you, I didn't know there was such a thing as Monday only. Never been to Nantucket. They say off season is the best time to go though.

I find my poormans subscription is worth every penny I pay for it...and Bruce has got to be one of the most sincere and honest people I've ever dealt with.

I've never met him in person...but from knowing him on the net for several years I'd agree that he is one of the few honest professionals.

He used to give a seminar the day before the Las Vegas Trader's Expos...He did them with a friend/collegue of his. But his friend died. He did one on his own in 2004 and I was going to go but something came up and I couldn't make it. I don't think he's done one since.

BTW...I'm going to the LV Expo in Vegas in November...I'm staying over the 15th, 16th and 17th...I mentioned that on my thread a few weeks ago in case anyone wanted to meet up there...Either nobody else is going or nobody wants to meet me ...Doug

Meeting you would be cool Doug...but, I've already taken about 6 weeks worth of vacation time his year. Sounds like a lot of fun though!

I'm actually going to Vegas on the 10-12th. And I do want to meet you, and would have extended the trip to do so, if I could, but I can't get that time off.

But if you just let me know when you'll be in San Diego again, we can meet up for some fish tacos anytime!

The Monday only is $189yr...You can buy it at the newsstand for $104 yr (Monday is 2 bux)...But w/ the deal I got for $174yr for all 5 days I went for that even though I rarely read any of them except Monday's. To get that price I had to sign up for 3 years though.

Prior to that I only paid $126yr avg for 6 years because I signed up for 3 yrs on a special and then a year later I added another 3 years on a special. Will keep you guys posted on any specials I hear about...Doug

PS...Pahkin da cah is wicked hahd...saw that on a T-shirt today...I'm learning all kinds of things here...They don't sell beer at the market, gas is cheap...I paid $1.99 at a Hess station North of Boston (Cheapest I've paid in LA is 2.65 although on the radio they say there are stations at 2.30...I've never seen any).

I learned that road construction zones have a cop instead of a flag person...seems like a waste of resources...Some road signs I've seen that you won't see in LA:

Blasting Zone Ahead...Whoa!!!...I thought the freeway snipers in LA were bad

Thickly Settled...What is that???...Everyone in the neighborhood is fat???

Blind Person XING...What???...How do the blind people find these crossings?

Rotary...I was able to figure that out ahead of time...But we call 'em Traffic Circles

                        Geez!!!...This like bein' in a foreign country...lol

You did forward the secret interim VTP web address to Bruce like we talked about in the last inner circle meeting didn't you Webs? Just want to make sure he doesn't miss out on anything important.

Here's a poem I wrote in the 4th grade (10 years old). I won first place in a contest within my school for it. It's the only poem I've ever written, maybe I should write another one.

                              I Love Harvest Time....

                              I love harvest time
with the leaves red, yellow and lime.
It's time to reap the corn
and carefully place it in the horn.
It's time to eat hog chitlins
                              and pies made from pumpkins
The grass also gets very brown
and I will go hunting with my old hound
                              I love harvest time.
                              BEEF!... it's whats for dinner!

His friends name was Jim Sheffield and he was one of the sharpest investors I ever came across. He was a great guy and a true gentleman. He would always take the time out to explain any part of his reasoning behind his investing. He was posting at IBD when I first came across him and we became friends. I would email him or call him a couple of times a week just to bullshit. He lived down in Houston, Texas. One night I called him and got no answer and figured it was no big deal. Called again later the next day and got no answer. It was strange because he was always home. This went on for several days and other people must have been calling him because someone called the police after they hadn't seen or heard from his for days and they found him dead in his home. He had been dead for several days.
He made millions and was strongly based in the fundamental side of trading. He literally made millions of dollars and would buy a stock and put it away forever just reinvesting the dividends. He died a rich man without any close relatives was the story I heard afterwards. He was a special guy and one of the best investors I've come across.
