Well, the reformat...worked out(did it at work so I could get some support...I found out what happened on Saturday...Hacked to the hilt)...Anyway, I bring it back home and now my monitor is the weirdest hue of blue...very annoying...tried everything...update drivers...the controls only make it worse...But I'll get somebody over here to fix everything on site.

Meanwhile, even though my computer is only 13 months old...I'm getting a whole new system next week...I have DSL on this one...will probably go cable on the other one...That way if one's messed up I can just switch to the other one.

Very frustrating when you have computer probs...I know just enough to screw things up more.

Sorry to hear of your PC problems IIC. Norton Ghost is a wonderful thing, as are simple .bat files with Windows scheduled tasks to daily automate your backing up essential data to a second hard drive.

No, you misunderstand. "eating humble pie" means you make an assertion and get proven wrong, thereby calling for you to 'eat humble pie'. You on the other hand made an assertion and were proven right, so the term 'eat humble pie' that Newborn used is incorrectly applied to your wonderful predictive stock skills

Now I really feel stupid...I didn't even know what Humble Pie meant to be honest with you...I guess it's a Midwest or East Coast term...LOL

Anyway...wonderful news...I got EVERYTHING fixed finally on my home computer...What a NIGHTMARE....A week from Hell!!!...Although there's always a Silver lining...At least it got me off my duff to install everything on the laptop I got for Christmas. Also, I'm getting a new Desktop delivered in a couple of days too...Now I don't need it...but it will be good to have a backup in case this type of thing ever happens again.

BTW: I mentioned that this thing disabled my Norton when it hit. I have
PC-Cillin now. You might want to give it a try??? I've known about it for a couple of years. It even cleared up some viruses on several friend's computers last year when Norton and MacAfee wouldn't.

They offer a free scan, no registration required. Even when I had Noton I would periodically run their freebie and it usually found something that Norton didn't.

Congrats! Ya, I use PC-Cillin as my scanner and it's great. Doesn't hog resources and very reliable.

I ran the free PC-Chillin scan...I found 3 viruses! So much for my McAfee virus software. I'm headed out to get PC-Chillin now.
