            IIC,
TASR is having big problems today which reminded me of KKD which also seemed all along to be too good to be true. Several months ago you mentioned that you didn't think much of TZOO and didn't know anyone using them. I don't either. Not to start any rumors but could TZOO become a similar situation down the road? I'm just thinking outloud , but there do seem to be parallels.

Looks like it woulda been better to just trade A/H this week.

This morn before work I caught NMTI -.08sh, VIDE +.30sh and CYBX +.36sh.
Daytrades went pretty good this week, however my "Stock of the Year"...COGT is down almost 4 bux since I bot it earlier this week.

                    Selling Dreams

Look at Page B7 of Monday's IBD. You'll see that, compounded, IBD claims a gain of 704.9% using CANSLIM since 1998.

I'd like to see the details on that...wouldn't you??? Why are the details such a BIG secret???

Now, look at Page A8. IBD claims a gain of 155% on the New America's since late 1998. I have neither the time or inclination to go back and verify that...so let's assume it's true. But, if you believe the claims on Page B7 you certainly wouldn't concentrate on New America's.

Let's take a closer look at the New America chart. If you take the 1st quarter 2000 highs of the New America's and the SP 500 you'll see that both are down 20% in the past 5 years. Not very impressive IMO. In fact, I urge IBD to either get their act together on the New America's or discontinue the column. Even a mediocre portfolio manager beats the SP 500 by 10%.

OK...So now let's look at the Friday edition of IBD on Page A17. Take a look at the IBD 85-85 Index chart. Notice that they claim that the 85-85 Index is up 70% since the lows in early 2002. But the Nasdaq is up 90% since the lows in late 2001.

Again...As Shania Twain would say..."That Don't Impress Me Much".

In fact, if you eliminate the 25% lowest rated Nasdaq stocks during that time, the remaining Nasdaq stocks gained 138%.

Another thing...Why does the 85-85 Index chart end over a year ago? What happened in 2004?.

The whole point is that anyone can twist the figures to meet their NEEDS and IBD NEEDS to sell papers.

                    My suggestion..."Buyer Beware"

                        IIC,
Concerning IBD's claim of a 704% gain in canslim stocks since 1998.
Check all stocks back to 1998. Determine which qualify as canslim candidates. Check performance. If they tanked they obviously weren't canslim stocks. That can be verified by determining what canslim characteristics they didn't meet. Since virtually no stocks are 100% canslim, you can retroactively dismiss all that fail and accept those that perform well. I honestly believe that's how they come up with their numbers. If they would just have a "canslim" column each week listing stocks in a canslim portfolio and performance it could be proven, but they won't do that.
In three years I haven't found anyone other than Mr. Market posting buys and sells and results. Please let me know of anyone else doing this.

Well, in 2 of the Chatrooms I'm in I always post my buys/sells within 3 mins. That is not practical for me at Forums/Clubs/Groups though.

Maybe we should sell papers. Unlike IBD, we actually MAKE money...Hahaha!!!

IBD sucks in a lot of new investors. It didn't take me long to realize that Canslim was a joke.

Sorry that I have not been around...Major computer problems at home and I can't post here(I'm at work now)...also can't do a lot of things although I can get online...but no javascript, no html...Windows restore/fixes are not accessible, no online printing ,no stockcharts etc...

I have been attempting multiple fixes, but whatever hit me knocked out my Port Magic, Norton was destroyed among other things...so I installed PC-cillin which I think is much better.

Anyway, I am going to try a couple of things tonight...if that doesn't work, I'll reformat the hard drive and reinstall XP on Thursday. If that doesn't work, I'll just get a new computer.

Taking the week off as far as stocks...Best to all...IIC
