Yes...However, you can always re-buy a stock...One of my best ever stocks was CREE from November 1998 thru March 2000..I bot/sld it 5x....I made 6x my money...But...if I had just held it I would've made 10x...AND...if I had been able to call the top I might have made about 14x...But at least I slept well for almost 1 1/2 yrs.

Remember though...The IIC 100 is not a recommended buy list...it is an "Idea" list. Perhaps one would do better if they bot those appearing on the list for the first time???...They may not be so extended???

I haven't studied the IIC100 very closely. Do stocks commonly debut at #1 like they have been known to on IBD? It would be nice to buy a #100 and hold for 6 months as it reaches #1.

I wouldn't say it is common...but NVEC the current # 1 debuted in the Top Spot. The reason that can happen is because a stock might be missing the minimum on one of my minor criteria...That changes and if it is the strongest on the most heavily weighted criteria it starts out high on the list.

However, I don't particularly like the way I sort the list...But I promised this group that tracks the IIC 100 vs. some other lists that I would not change it this year...They felt that the other lists don't change their parameters...But how do we know that? As we can all see, Canslim, after a million years of tracking, revised its system in 2003.

I usually run thru all the charts and pick out 5-10 to check out further and/or watch more closely.

I am thinking about adding some criteria and sorting differently next year...Problem with adding criteria is that I may not end up with 100...The IIC 83 doesn't have much of a ring to it.

I usually end up with 130-150 stocks each week before the sort. The lowest number I ever had was 112. The highest was about 190. During earnings season the number seems to be lower. I attribute that to some that miss and that possibly some new or potential winners have not raised projections yet which may qualify them for inclusion...Those are my thoughts on that issue anyway.

If I do add criteria I will have lower the minimums on some current criteria to ensure 100.

There is also another problem w/ the IIC 100...Takeovers...they often gap and then flatline...They really should be removed. Easy enough, but like I said I promised not to change the criteria. Another problem is that my data source may not always have the most current info. That has happened a couple of times...But nothing is perfect....that's why you might see a stock drop off for one week and then reappear the next....However, that was not the issue when HANS dropped from # 1 to off the list to #1 again...The issue with that was a temporary earnings projection revision.

Speaking of eps projection revisions another issue just popped into my mind...I use eps projections for a certain period of time as a criteria. If I can't get projections then it can't be on the list. I remember a couple of times when a company announced all of a sudden I had no projections out far enough to qualify.

Well, nothing is perfect...that's why it's free...

Now that I explained some of the problems with the IIC 100 list...I'd like to invite the authors of some other lists to expalin their problems...LOL

I just went through the current IIC 100 , actually maybe the first 30 or so eliminating #1 and #2 looking for good prospects , then ran them through about 6 rating services and came up with what I call Doug's big 11 , as opposed to Peanuts Lucky 13 , and Rob's 10 long lists. They are in approximate order of ranking : CSH VTS MTW MICC ACLI BLUD RIMM ICLR ICTG UCTT TTEC. Nothing against Peanuts or Rob, but these tested out very highly and I couldn't eliminate any of them. Will track them for a while.

Seriously though...I suggest that anyone who is interested in stocks with very good recent eps % increases and very good PROJECTED eps % increases check out the IIC 100...That is a major criteria....But there are other criteria.

I do not take into account backward looking EPS as some do...That is probably the major difference between the IIC 100 and some other lists...However, if some of the stocks on my lists miss projections...it can be disastorous...So...BUYER BEWARE!!!
