I'm feeling generous today so there will be more than a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. A gold star with an * will be given to the person picking the lowest yielding stock that appreciates the most in price and a gold star with 2 ** will go out to the guru picking the highest div. stock gaining the most in price over the course of the year.

My prediction: The aggregate gains by % of these stocks will be greater than the % gain of the DJIA in 2012.

    Phoenix,
Here's the final list with official entry prices. Later I'll add the 11% to each one so you can see what is needed to qualify for the winning prizes. Those paying over 10% div. have a real advantage if they can get the additional 11% in price appreciation , unless they drop the div. during the year.

I've always been curious as to why you picked 11% as opposed to, say, 10 or 12?

          Louetta,
Couldn't go with 15% cause the Huge one's got that covered. Anything more would be too optimistic since the divs. were already substantial. 10% seemed old hat so 11% was just right. It will be interesting to see how many can do it. If another lousy year maybe none. A blockbuster market and watch out!

                  mimo,
PEP doesn't have the required 3.5% div. minimum.

Mr. Market picks BPT and MLU

BPT- Prudhoe Bay Royalty Trust , operated by Standard Oil and BP, branches of British Petroleum, distributes royalties to shareholders from 16% of the first 90,000 barrels of daily oil production at Prudhoe Bay, North Slope, Alaska. These payments can be greatly effected by breakdowns in pipelines or processing equipment.

                      Market cap 2.6 billion

Current div. is 1.956 qtr. 6.56%. Payments have varied from low of .99 4/9/09 to high of 3.61 1/13/10

MLU- MetLife Inc. Com. Equity Unit is a provider of insurance, annuities, employee benefits to a worldwide customer base in the U.S., Asia, Europe, Middle East, and Latin America.

Div. has been .938 qtr. 5.61% since inception 5.27/11

OK Mr. Market, I give up. What is the difference between MetLife Inc. and MetLife Inc. Com. Equity Unit ?

                            mimo,
Since you've been a good contributor and member of the forum since the beginning I'm declaring you the final contestant of this contest.
                            With the following entry prices:

                            PM--77.65 Dividend 3.08---3.97%

                            NCV--9.09 Dividend 1.08--- 11.88%

If it comes down to the finish as a tie , you will be assessed a 1% penalty so the others won't riot.
