PotY Contest Standings As of Market Close, September 17, 2021

Oh boy. Now we don’t have a single pick beating any of the indices. Oh, cruel world. Jiesen’s TSLA short is still our leader and has been the rock of our contest so far, but it’s grip on first place is becoming tenuous. Louetta’s SAN still has a firm grasp on the second spot with the gap between 1st and 2nd getting narrower. The real story this week, however, is Paco’s ETSY, which has slowly but steadily been climbing the rankings and now sits in 3rd place, just barely below the green level. ETSY’s charts is starting to look pretty good. It is breaking its way through a layer of resistance and moving into some open air, perhaps mounting a challenge to its all time high. We’re coming up on October, folks. Time to get a move on. Call your broker. Call investor relations. Call the exchanges. Call everyone! Tell them it’s time to start their engines. No more time for pit stops. It’s pedal to the metal time! Go, stock, go!

Back of the envelope, on Monday both SAN and TSLA were down 5%. Since Jiesen is short this widened the gap between the two stocks 10% in one day giving him a 14% lead instead of 4.

Oh the monotony! Oh the drudgery!! Oh the humanity!!! Can’t the stock market just get along after all? Well, the leaderboard certainly tightened up this week, but overall, things look pretty much the same. It’s just a whole lotta blah! Here we are heading into the start of the home stretch with only 3 months left before a winner is declared, and most of our picks lie stagnant. Wake up picks, you’ve overslept! Hey, the market was crazy up at last! Oh wait, I was looking at the charts upside down. Blah. Just more blah. Al least two picks are beating the NASDAQ this week. Congrats to Jiesen and his long-leading-short-pick, TSLA, and Louetta and her only-long-in-the-green pick, SAN. Boy has the difference between first and second tightened up, though. We have a race here going into the final stretch. In third place we have Vixtt’s ABNB pick, which is narrowly fending off Paco’s ETSY. Giddy up little stock friends! Here’s hoping the market will find a way to right itself over the next couple of months.

Well, more much ado about nothing from the market this week, but we did have one major change. Louetta’s long pick, SAN, vaulted into first place after lingering in second for a considerable amount of time. Not only did SAN take over first place, but it also is beating all three indices! Imagine that. Quite an accomplishment with this market. Congratulations, Louetta. We still have to grind out another 10 weeks or so before it all mercifully ends, but let’s see if there are a few more surprises in the market before it does.

PotY Contest Standings As of Market Close, October 15, 2021

Not much new to report this week. Louetta’s SAN continues its reign at number one, widening its lead in the process. Jiesen’s TSLA also continues to hold onto second place, although its grip may be getting a little precarious as market pressures are driving TSLA up against this short position. Still, only SAN and TSLA are in the green, no small accomplishment in this market. Taking up third place is Paco’s ETSY, which continues to tease the break even mark and may soon become our third position in the green. As for the rest of us, positions range from not-too-bad to what-the-*%$&-happened. As we close in on the final two months of the contest, some of us can only hope for a market miracle to put us back into the thick of things. Hey market, come on, man.

Well, we had some movement at the top this week. Louetta’s SAN still held on to first place with a solid lead, but Paco’s ETSY jumped up into second after a banner week. It now becomes only the second long pick in the green. Congratulations Paco! Jiesen’s season long leading short position TSLA is in third.
