Wolfie...thanks for keeping this going. As one might gather, this market has been less than interesting. I need to see where the inflation and interest rate levers end up, and what it does to earnings, before any stocks clear the hurdles of my momentum model. Right now the dumps are pretty skinny.

My pleasure, huge one. As for the market, the trend is your friend and right now all three indices are screaming stay away. There are going to be some incredible buys eventually, but the way things stand right now, I’m afraid eventually could be pretty far down the road.

PotY Contest Standings As of Market Close, June 24, 2022

As Gomer Pyle used to say, surprise, surprise, surprise! The market actually had an up week, and a pretty strong one at that. It wasn’t enough to break any indice downtrends, but it felt good for the longs all the same. As for the contest, the order remains the same as last week: BillyJoe’s UTHR is in first place followed by Minni17’s OGN and Jiesen’s QDEL. UTHR and OGN remain the only two picks in the green, but QDEL is getting close. The top three picks are the only ones that are beating all three indices. Here’s hoping that the market continues it’s upward trend next week so that a few more picks can approach break even.

Well, here’s another week gone by and guess what? The market is down! Big! What a surprise. They’re going to be some great buying opportunities here some day, but right now trying to call bottom is like catching a falling knife. As for the contest, Minni17’s OGN and BillyJoe’s UTHR remain our only two green entries. Jiesen’s QDEL is now in third place, and despite being in the red, is still ahead of all three market indices. Well, so much for any market recovery as the market quickly followed its up week with another downer as jobs data came in mixed and rumors of another rate hike rattled investors. We still have two picks in the green and beating the three indices, which is a bit of a minor miracle. Minni17’s OGN remained in first place followed by BillyJoe’s UTHR in second. In third place this week is Antioch’s GRBK despite a 20% late penalty, although given the start the market has gotten off to this year, picking later in the year may prove to be an advantage even with a 20% penalty. Only time will tell.
