I have 22 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. How is this possible? Every day there are hundreds of stocks setting new highs, no matter what happens in the overall market. Many of these stocks are still at very reasonable valuations. Afraid of buying stocks at their highs? Think of it this way: a new high is really a future floor for companies with solid financial underpinnings. Quantitative momentum modeling makes it easy to identify stocks that can continue this upward momentum trend. Why does this happen? It's really very simple..ask me about what investors and cows have in common. I am $$$ MR. MARKET $$$. I AM HUGE!!! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses. You can join in on the fun. New-born,
I'm not worried as long as she stabilizes without another big drop. My cost ave. is 39.61. How can there be a tire shortage in this day and age?I don't buy it. Especially one that can effect business in both '06 and '07.
billyjoe
Sounds like a line, doesn't it?
We've got until Dec 28th for the ex-date. I think FDG recovers the whole drop today, and a little more. Probably a real good time to add shares.
Haven't submitted a Hot Pick of the Day for a while.
Here's one that is ripe for the picking right here at current prices of 43.00 to 43.20. Stop over high of day for great r/r target of mid 30's.
Spike, not sure about this. Here I've plotted some channels on IRM. It has been doing a great job of running the upper channel line. I also view the pop out of the channel as bullish. Now will it bounce off that top channel or will it fall back into the zone?
What ya think Spike?
Ya, that channel short failed today for the sub1% loss or whatever it was. Channel is not even expanding yet though. Perhaps it wants 50.00 in a 5th on the daily. I see on a 2-year daily that it's probably in the start of a 5th up, and this little push is 1 of a smaller set within it. Would be a stalker now, pending resolution of any double top it gives.
NB, here are a few I'm stalking right now. Any comments?
ATPG GGB FRED SLAB HLT PMTI PVA CSH SGR TSCO VPI
Let's start with GGB: I like this one. Uranium is a nice thing to have around if you want to produce a lot of electricity. And GGB is a provider of this commodity. Current price target is a nice even $20.00.
NB LAB seems to have a nice chart.........do you see a breakout here.?......may buy Tuesday Thanx pete!
Pete,
I am having trouble with Stockcharts. I cannot get the 'annotations' button to work for me, so I have been unable to post charts for Runner or you. (I got it to work once this morning for NUTR, but now it won't work anymore).
In any case, here's what I see for LAB.
1. None of the indicators I use say she has bottomed:
STOs or ULT. The RSI says she has gained some strength, but that's all.
2. On the daily, she is making something of an ascending triangle. When I say "something," I mean that it is not textbook perfect, and so take this statement with a gain of salt.
3. The Point n Figure chart says $24 target . . . another grain of salt please.
4. The Weekly shows an ascending triangle. Target there is almost $13.
5. Overall, it doesn't appear to me to be a bad time to enter.
Tim,
Thank you for the boxes. You must be a momo trader.
May I make a respectful comment? $11.87 and $9.81 is a huge spread ($2.06 is 17.3% of $11.87; 21% of $9.81). Both are more than Ernie's 15% target for his picks. My point is that I'd like to make an entry on a much tighter basis since I am so greedy I don't want to give up the 17-21%. Maybe what we should say is that if $9.81 holds (support), we should enter and look to possibly exit at $11.87 should that resistance hold.

It appears that the stock has filled the nov 14-15 gap between approximately 10.40 and the high 10's. The 11.87 and 9.81 I mentioned were stops. If you already owned the stock, i would see if it broke these levels, short and long respectively. If I did not own it, I would go long if it broke 11.87 intraday. The SAR is giving a signal that the issue is moving lower. I pick good stocks, but I struggle with entry points.
