    Scifos,
You got me thinking about WW1. My grandfather on my mother's side gave me 2 large artillary shells from the war that have been made into vases. They're etched with the battles they came from. One was Chateau Thierry. Can't remember the other one. Just looked for it , but no luck. Grandpa would be 122 years old now , but he lived to his 90's and I remember him well. The other grandfather was a cook in WW1 and I have his cookbook. It has recipes that read " take a boxcar load of flour etc." it really does.

      BillyJoe,
Great post. Both of my grandfathers fought in WWI; both were born in 1894. My father's father was with the 336 INF, 84th ("Abraham Lincoln") Division. I have the buttons from his uniform, his sharpshooters badge, his mess kit and canteen, the sheath to his bayonet, his pipe, his razor, a captured German razor, his WWI helmet, and all his badges from his uniform. I also have his shaving brush, on which the handle he inscribed "Montpelier, France, Oct. 10, 1918." Both grandfathers were from Glasgow, KY, and I have pictures of both grandfathers in uniform. He died in 1949 (before I was born). He was gassed, and never really was healthy after the war. His widow lived 46 years, 3 months after his death.

Chateau Thierry! What a famous USMC battle!

Also Harvest is merging with Viking this month ,with a dist increase from .35 to .38.This trust should be trading upper 30s soon. When ERF was paying .38 it traded in the low 40s.

Ive halted all other trades except canroys or amroys. They are the only trades I can consistently trade for a profit.

          Tom,
I forgot to say that I'd buy the IPO on the NYSE if I had the opportunity. It is at least going to go immediately higher. Oil, btw, is at a temporary bottom support, and I think going to move higher this week . . . a good time to buy oil stocks today, because by Friday they will be up.

                New-born,
In general do you favor coal over oil and gas or is it just FDG in particular? Can we still get in on the div.? Your selections in the energy and metals areas are usually accurate ie. oil tankers earlier this year....ka ching followed by copper (PCU) .... ka ching again. In your opinion is this going to be good at least until warm weather returns ? Thanks.

                billyjoe

p.s. you were also correct in predicting gas under 2.00 , a figure I never expected to see again

                  BillyJoe,
Greetings, my friend. FDG: Fording Coal announces divy on Dec 7, 2005. I think then the ex-date will be 12/28/2005--not sure yet.
That divy is predicted to be $1.40 USD. This is Fording's low quarter, i.e., they make more money in the other three quarters. In any case, FDG represents my biggest holding in my portfolio. I think she pops to a minimum of $45.

COAL: the stats say coal has been the hottest sector in the NYSE since January 2005. Look at our friend Archie: (ACI). Almost $80--pays a paltry .08 divy per quarter. That's sin, my friend. But the calls on old Archie are absolutely wonderful. Want somebody to just hand you $9? Sell the April 2006 $80 calls on ACI.

So, I favor coal over oil (but not NG!) right now because that's where the money is. NG is a great sector, and not yet overbought, imho. But I like divy payers, and on the NYSE, the divys are just not high enough to beat my Cans.

In summary: I like ACI at $75 or less. (It'll pull back for you).
I like FDG at current prices if you want to take a $4 run-up in the next two weeks.
I like HTE at $30 (if you can get it).
I like to play SWN on $34 pullbacks, and sell at $36+. (About two universes worth of resistance at $36.40+. It cannot hold that price).
I like FRO at about $40, and sell the $40 DEC calls and hope the stock gets called away for the divy. Divy is $1.04 this month. I daytraded her today--not much action, narrow price range today.

                  Here's the BILLY-LINK: FDG

                  LYE-LINK: ACI
Too hight to buy right now. Could short her down . . .

                  Best to the BillyJoe.

                          Pete:
PMTI has been crazy bullish. You are correct: looks like a MM pick.
I have two charts for you on her. The daily shows the cup without handle breakout. Target is $37.50, and she is very nearly there. Daily also shows that PMTIs MoMo has slowed the last two weeks or so. Here it is:
                          the LYE-LINK:

The weekly very clearly shows the double top breakout. Again, weekly target was $37.50, and she is very nearly there. It shows a low volume updraft the last 4 weeks, and in my mind, says that the $30 support level will be tested fairly soon. When? I don't know, but perhaps the beginning of January, or maybe even soon. All I can say is I think she pulls back to retest that $30 level. Others are welcome to debate this.

                            Rick,
Yesterday I sold all my Cans on the Canadian side. (I own Cans on the US side). Why?
                            1. Exchange rate was near all time highs, and very favorable for me to bring my $$ across the border.
                            2. I owned a huge amount of VKR.UN. Paying me 16.67% divy. But mergering with HTE.UN in March, and divy drops to 13%. HTE can be bought on the US side (NYSE). Bring the dough across the line to protect my profits.

SO, if you are looking for recommends, here are some good Cans on the US side:
FDG: a coal can, and I own a lot of this
                            PWI
                            HTE

I consider these to be trash, but you can make money trading them:
                            EENC
                            PVX
