It's all up and down. Lately I haven't been able to hit the floor if I fell out of bed which the last two weeks of the contest attest to. I'm borrowing a couple of darts from Ray this coming week. It looks like you're onto something with the top 10 portfolio. Great results an idea.
    Mornin Ski,

No doubt, Ray rocked this week.... like I said "dart throwing my butt".... Ray's got some cards up his sleeve....hehehe

Time will tell on the portfolio deal.... I like the concept of 20 individual traders throwing up their best shot and doing it in the name of good old fashioned competition..... Gotta bag some winners with that formula.

Are you using the V-V online version or are you downloading the data nightly?.... I've found the downloaded data works much better and faster. If you subscribe it's good to work out a deal with them to include some stuff free. If you don't ask they won't offer.... My package has:

    ProGraphics 6.0
    ProTrader Graphs (must have this)
Super Extended data base (this is nice to have too)
Downloadable version (get all the RAM you can on your PC, ask their tech guys)
I have access to the online version too.

They also offer "options" software. They have user siminars from time to time and user groups that meet and learn from each other (I get emails from the central NC and the eastern VA group). It's a cool network. Their technical support fellas are excellent, based down in Charlotte NC.... Worth the money IMO.

      Lye,
I have the online version an it seems to have everything you mentioned. I haven't used it very much or to much of it but am easing into it now. How much does it cost you a month for what you have. You seem to have the whole package. Just last night I signed up for a couple of online instructional seminars. Haven't really used it enough or gotten into everything in it to make a decision on it yet.

I used it for about 2 months last year. Was pretty impressed but at the end of the day I didn't want to pay for it.

I am on an old 13 month plan and I pay annually (don't know if they offer it anymore).... I think it averages around $45-50 bucks per month (not exactly sure, maybe less). Of course you've gotta buy the software up front to start with.... which is about $750 bucks. They have a new super-duper software pkg out now that costs about $3k but I'm not sure what all it does yet.

              Points race totals through 12-11-05

Here are the Points Race totals.... I have also devised a "vector" to rate a players "potential" profitability and consistancy. I call it the CPV rating. I'll use it to determine what percentage of the portfolio funds goes to which of the top ten players.

A top ten player with a very low CPV is one HOT stock picker! This is a good goal to strive for.... Become a top ten player with a CPV of less than 10....

Next week I may extend it to the top 15 players, Not sure yet. I'm still just testing right now.

Remember missing a contest or more WILL screw up your points standing and more importantly REALLY screw up your CPV rating. DON"T MISS A WEEK! We now have 25 players listed!!!! I want 25 players playing!!!!

click here if you can't view the above link....

You just go to the "Portfolio of the Week" thread and post a pick, long or short. You need to get it in before close of market today. That's pretty much it- but Lye has posted more detailed rules on that thread if you want more info. And no, NBB is a dude (hence the "Mr. Dividend" signature).

                        Lye,
I give you permission to short everything I'm long on and long everything I'm short on, you'll do well. How about another port? Take the worst 10 pickers and do the opposite of them each week.

                          I'm seriously considering that.....hehehe

This "H" factor experiment should tell alot about our stock picking methods BillyJoe. It will expost the flaws and the cream will rise to the top. Now if I can get to happen what I think will happen, even us poor pickers will benifit from the experiment and hopefully improve.

btw CHECK OUT Sis's nice bottom fishing pick.... up 3.5% now!!!! and showing strength.... RN my butt! she probably works at the Motley Fool or something like that. Speaking of "fishing".... something's "fishy" here.... Hmmmmm.... how do ya get a yacht and sail the world on a RN's salary anyway?.... Come clean Sister! lol

How to become a patient short seller?....

I was just sittin here watching my tickers and listening to a little Blue Grass (Bill monroe).... and the thought hit me..... Wonder why I am patient when holding a long position allowing the stock to slide 7-8% (or more) because I think it'll recover..... but if I'm holding short I get all nervous when my short rises 1%.... What is wrong with my brain?..... hmmmmmm? I think I'm on to something here.... not sure what.... but it's something.lol

I'll finish off this pot of black coffee and see what I come up with.
