Billy, well I hadn't seen that video, but I have seen the movie Crossroads .... in English.

Ry Cooder has been one of my favorites for a long time. He is one of the most versatile guitarists I've ever heard, being able to adapt brilliantly to so many different styles. But he seems mostly rooted in that delta blues style. He did studio work for the early Little Feat ablums, and you can unmistakably hear his influence on that music. Unfortunately his writing skills are inferior to his playing skills, and while most of his CDs have a few gems on them, there are always a number of throwaway tracks.

I first heard of Steve Vai when he hooked up with David Lee Roth as his lead guitarist. I don't know a lot about him because I'm not a big enthusiast for that style of music. I do know, though, that Vai is one of those gifted, musical genius types, who has phenomenal skills. Also I believe I read where Joe Satriani was one of Vai's early guitar instructors. This wouldn't surprise me, because what few things I've heard by Satriani impressed me as being 99½% technical wizardry and ½% soulful. That might be a bit of an exaggeration but pretty much sums up my personal impression. That guitar duel in the Crossroads movie has some really intense and impressive stuff in it, some of it clearly taking on classical form.

Vai is a virtuoso, no doubt. But the style is so overbearing that after I've heard about five minutes of it, I've had my fill. It's like there's no room for modulation, and there's only one speed: wide open. That said, even in my dreams I can't play ½ as well as either of 'em.

                I say, "no"

I show a bearish crossover of the 20 day EMA and 50 day MA. Also, I notice that the ascending lower price trend line was broken with Monday's action. My TA says to stay away for now. One good thing is that is you'r looking for a swing trade, all my ST indicators say that this is oversold and is due for a bounce. After a MA crossover and trend line break, it is really tough to find areas of support that you can count on.

That's just looking at the chart, though

                  Maxims

I just found a pretty good list of maxims. I remember Doug had posted a similar list a couple of times, and I was going to post this list as a reply to it, but I couldn't find it. Anyway, here's the list:
                  1. Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me alone.
                  2. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and leaky tire.
                  3. It's always darkest before dawn. So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it.
                  4. Don't be irreplaceable. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.
                  5. Always remember that you're unique. Just like everyone else.
                  6. Never test the depth of the water with both feet.
                  7. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.
                  8. Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
                  9. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
                  10. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
                  11. If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
                  12. If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.
                  13. Some days you're the bug; some days you're the windshield.
                  14. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
                  15. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.
                  16. A closed mouth gathers no foot.
                  17. Duct tape is like 'The Force.' It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
                  18. There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works.
                  19. Generally speaking, you aren't learning much when your lips are moving.
                  20. Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
                  21. Never miss a good chance to shut up.
                  22. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

I agree. I laughed at most of them because they are so true in a small sense and in a big sense.

08:44 IMCL Imclone: BofA would build position; expects positive data points to drive 1st-line share of Erbitux in the 30% of patients that do not receive Avastin (29.22 ) -Update-
BofA notes IMCL is being helped by positive data this morning as IMCL and Merck KgaA and BMY reported that the 1st-line colorectal cancer Phase III trial met its primary end point of improving progression free survival. Firm expects the results to drive 1st-line share of Erbitux in the 30% of patients that do not receive Avastin, which represents a sizable opportunity for IMCL, potentially roughly $300 mln (based on numerous assumptions that could change). Firm says with a $2.1 bln enterprise value IMCL appears priced for failure, despite significant growth opportunities for Erbitux along with a promising pipeline that should see the start of two Phase III cancer programs in 2007, and other positives. While there is still considerable "hair" on this story, including the need to find a permanent CEO and obtain a non-exclusive Yeda license, firm would build positions here.

News driven spike. I hope it drives it up for Rob but I wouldn't be counting the chickens yet as this is only a preliminary report and has no value yet. Momo guys are driving it up and retail guys will get caught again in the tide.
Was up close to 2 points at 31.30 and is now coming back to earth as the momo guys take their gains. Now at around 30.55.

                            Check this out:

As of Thursday morning, this was my standing in the CNBC "Million Dollar Portfolio Challenge":

Then after a very successful Friday, note the difference in my gains vs. my rank. This capture was made a few minutes ago this morning, after the top 25 list had already been updated:

I've already written four emails to CNBC's "customer care" dept. this morning, complaining about their poorly-run contest. This really ticks me off.
