Spent a nice morning picking up trash along the banks of the Charles with about 500 other people. In the afternoon went to the Harvard/Yale track meet. Don't know who won, its not a big deal. In the stadium at 4PM was Harvard/Holy Cross lacrosse. That IS a big deal, at least to some. They actually charge admission and serve lunch.
Darn...I'm busy that Wednesday....But Newburyport is not that far to see a really fierce poetry competition...Heck, I had a minor work disaster in San Diego today...260mis. r/t...I was there...solved the problem and was back home in less than 6 hours.

Track meet...Not A Big Deal...WHAT!?!?!...If it weren't for track somebody would've had to pay for my college education...Did I ever mention...When I was in HS I got offers from about 30+ schools?...Plus I got letters from others...One letter I got was from Dartmouth...They were interested...But not interested in offering any money...Imagine if you and I had both been Ivy Leaguers...Maybe I'd actually have made time for the Poetry Competition myself???

    Lacrosse...Is that a sport?...Quite a racket...Bribing people with food to get them to come...LOL

My subscription to IBD runs out 4/30. I'm letting it run out because I know longer use it daily and you can buy it in the Square when you need it. This week I think I got a call every day from some guy in California who leaves his name and number and promises a great rate. At some point he'll probably figure out I'm not there in the day time. Doubt he'll just give up.

As flaky as he seems, (and that's an understatement), he has a habit of showing up at the park on game days early in the morning and just hanging out, waiting for the game to start. No one knows for sure when he arrived because he's already there when the first real humans arrive.
Manny has earned his salary through the first six years of his huge contract, is a good family man, never gets himself arrested, and gets along well with the media even though he doesn't give interviews so if he wants to disappear into the left field wall to relieve himself, sell his neighbor's grill on e-bay or occasionally jog to first base when he's certain to be put out he's OK with me.

No one volunteered to tell Schilling he had to walk him.

    Nevertheless the Sox won 7-6.

I always keep my trusty Remington slide action 308 in my office, just in case I spot a coyote while I'm gazing out of the window.... Well on Monday of this week I was on a highly important phone call and just as the conversation gets "heavy", I spy this fat skunk waddling right outside my office, swiftly heading into the back yard..... I thought about getting a "22".... but all my 22's are locked in my safe and I figured that stinkin' polecat would be long gone before I could get the rimfire out and loaded..... So being the quick thinker that I am, I apologized to my client, put the call on hold, slammed a clip of 150gr ballistic-tips into the 308, jacked the action and proceeded to sneak out onto my patio and took careful aim.... I was back to the call in about 30 seconds.... Later, I made my farmhand (Bobby) clean up the mess....Ssssssss!.... BTW, I really do hate a skunk.

Took small stakes in USB and MTB when they pulled back a smidge earlier this month cuz of the sub-prime flap (not such a pullback in USB). Anyway, neither has significant exposure to sub prime and each has excellent financials. What I'm hoping is that later this year they'll be further mortgage scares and/or one or both of these will have to increase their loan reserves. This hopefully will cause an overreaction and I'll be able to take a bigger stake in each at a good longer term price. Having a few shares now helps me focus on them better, which is probably silly.
